Congrats on being back on the road! Can you tell me more about this add-on camera? Does it use the radio display as the display when backing up? I might be interested in adding it to mine. I heard the same on the rear bumper - was crazy expensive to add the OEM camera to mine. Do you know anything about who makes this camera or where to get it?

    thanks!

Someone asked for a shot of the 3rd party backup camera I had put on my California. Here are two shots I just took. They aren't very good. I will try again in the daylight when the flash won't be needed.
The camera is the black bar on the top of the license plate. Not great looking but far better than a either a japanese tuner or a 1970 Buick planted in the rear end would look (people in our area tend to treat parking lots kind of like the back stretch at Pacific Raceways).

this is rosso mugello - sort of a deeper flatter red. More muted and thicker than corsa.

IMOHO, I think the 20 inch wheels look a little to "Urban Contemporary" for my taste. I went with the standard.

Curious as to how the 3rd party camera is integrated? I'm not that familiar with the internal gadgets on the Cali but does your back up camera integrate into the existing navigation?

    BTW your car is beautiful!

    thanks! I sure like it.
Anyway, when you put the car in reverse the camera image pops up on the navigation system so it works all seamlessly and automatically. I'll take a picture this afternoon and post it.

That's a third party camera? it looks like the factory option image. How was it integrated right into the OEM screen? There must be a simple plug in in the back of the unit.

Ferrari of Seattle can give all the details but the hookup didn't seem to take much effort. It did plug into a harness in the back.

about $1,600. Still pretty outrageous for a camera but it is nice to have.

Dang. It is MUCH cheaper than the factory option. If I knew it was as easy as hooking into a rear harness, I may have opted for that.

There is something to be said for having it all nicely built into the car at the factory though. I probably would have gone for that if possible. I am REALLY paranoid about someone smashing into me while I am backing out of a parking space. The folks here in Seattle go faster in the parking lots than they do on the street and pay even less attention. Some of the scariest driving you will do in the Pacific Northwest is in parking lots :)

Yes, I do! It got fixed. They had to replace a wiring harness that had some of the sensors for the roof position in it. It is working fine now. Ferrari says it was the first time they had seen that problem so it took them a bit to figure it out.

trivial pursuit. OK, I admit it, I am a nerd. I was noticing how wide the rear tires on my California look so I did some measuring. They are 11.25" wide. The track width of the rear tires from outside edge to outside edge is 75". That means that 30% of the track is rubber on the road! I don't recall my 360 being that much. I assume it is to handle the torque.

Yeah. The tires on the 360 look rather narrow than say, a 997, which has 30s on the rear. I prefer wider tires in appearance. Far be it for me to contradict the Ferrari engineers, so I accept whatever they put on the 360 as rule.

I was going to order Nero Black with Crema interior, but my wife persuaded me to go for Grigio Silverstone with a Sabbia interior with Nero stitching and Nero carpets. I added a yellow tach, Shields, yellow brake calipers, 20" wheels, Magneride, cruise control, front parking sensors and a few other extras. She never drove my 612, so the Dick Lovett salesman took her out in their demo California which she loved so much, she wants to drive the California when it arrives at the end of June. I used one of the configurators to produce the image.

yes, this is a really nice configuration. One word of caution: the sabbia interior is slightly darker than the configurator. Ask the delear to show you a swatch or perhaps a car on site with the color. My Cali has sabbia and, while I really like the way it looks, I was expecting it to be lighter, almost crema.
