the blue 308 at shannons was from Brooklands in sandringham. Was the Patrix 308 on Carsales/carpoint ??
Don't think so. He has stopped advertising on carsales. Patrick is an old mate of mine. Lives around the corner pops in weekly- nightly during the summer and often drops in cars he thinks I might be interested in. If it was a QV my mate would have taken it. Car has just had the interior redone.(mainly re-coloured). Looks pretty good to me. Just needs a service and possibly a clutch. Has a full service history and fully documented receipts. Whilst at it I would do the cam belts (just for that peace of mind).
To put things in perspective I just sold a 308 GTS carby euro spec with perfect body (red), perfect interior (black/red), all suspension rebuilt, whole underside of car repainted and detailed, all tools and history, deep spoiler and 16" wheels for under $80,000. As I have said to re-creat this sort of condition on a 50-$60,000 car would cost at least $40-$50,000 depending on what you find when you start pulling things apart. The other issue is once you start it can lead to a project that can take a very long time----years in some cases.
Hey you are preaching to the converted. I have a Testarossa and a Countach that appeared perfect on purchase and PPI. Both are perfect now, but each took on average 12-18 months to get right. Most of the work done by myself. Including machining of specialised parts no longer available including suspension rods, heim joints, hubs, shafts. If all the work was outsourced who knows what it would have cost. However I reckon that with Patricks 308 2V FI (which is worth less than your car) will need max about $10K spent on it (including clutch and cam belt service). It has already had about $40K spent on it in the last 5-6 years. BTW I would never buy a Ferrari and not immediately do the cambelt service. The risk is not worth it. These (especially 308) things do not have proper cam belt covers and it is very easy for the belts to pick up a small stone which can cause havoc. A LHD 308 GTS QV twin turbo for sale in Aus. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FERRARI-308-GTS-QUOTROVALVE-TWIN-TURBO-1985-/290589620289?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item43a87db841
Anyone looking for a spare 360 engine and transaxle? Asking $36k (the seller had bought it for a project but has given up... wonder what it was?) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=250857426922&Category=161425
Maybe Goob's for his race car. I see a complete 348 rear engine cradle, engine and gearbox for sale for $11K or best offer. I should buy it as a spare incase I blow my engine up because of the lack of cam belt maintenance.
Another rubbish LHD 308 in Australia. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ferrari-308GTB-1978-/330592507236?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item4cf8d95564
I emailed the seller out of curiosity about the turbo fitment and here's what came back... "We were told it [the turbo] was fitted by a Ferrari dealer. You are welcome to inspect the vehicle before the end of the auction, the auction is to buy not to inspect. The vehicle has very low miles and we havent seen any other cars with these sort of miles for this sort of money. It is priced less than a base model falcon, so much more Ferrari owners." Hmmm, no history on turbo engineering, no specs on performance, LHD, no ADR compliance to 1985 standards, less desirable GTS body.... not much going for it really. Current bids sitting $30100 so you have to wonder if it's even worth that...
Interesting and it also sounds like the seller knows nothing about the car. I say he would have bought it and shipped it over hoping to make some money on the deal. I wouldn't think it would go for much more than $30-$40K. But they reckon there is a sucker born every minute.
Nice colour combo, running 16" wheels and needs a correct steering wheel http://www.healeyfactory.com.au/productsb/_products_sub_group_details.asp?id=1155
There's a reeely noice 308 GTS on ebay at the moment. It's one of the rare GULLWING type door models. I reckon it'd go well in Mt Isa.
Looks good. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ferrari-308-GTS-1978-Carbureted-Targa-/280717183574?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item415c0c4a56 Image Unavailable, Please Login
