Hmmm... Ferrari has surprised us with the 458. Its track times are better than you would expect when you do some armchair racing with stats... and the excitement factor is universally praised. Plus they like to cheat
was just published that porsche did a time of 7:14 for the 918 ....i think both the P12 and F70 "might" break 7, but agreed the P12 likely a bit quicker of the two
Jim how fast is your racecar going when its crossing start/finish. That will an idea of the speed of the 918 and some math person here can figure out its [918] probable laptime from a rolling start
Because Ferrari will tune it to give it a non-stock advantage, or because Ferrari will hire the best driver to fling it around quickly? All the best, Andrew.
All company's tweak there cars for that sort of thing...some a lot more than Ferrari and some cheat and steal info too Toyota had the F1 base raided and Mac well we all know spy gate....
I always thought it was the be all and end all to have the fastest naturally aspirated production car..... part of why the Mac F1 was helded in such high regard...
Because if Ferrari tests it there, the car was designed to be fast there (road stock). Otherwise the time is irrelevant.
Sorry for the off-topic, but I need to put a reminder here that it was Ferrari employees that stole that particular information. Back to the subject of hypercar ring times... The P1 will be fastest because of it's zero drag bodywork. It's so ugly, it actually scares the air out of the way.
I'm curious about F70 and P1, which of them would win 24 hours race, long distance race is the best way to judge which engine is better, small turbo or big naturally aspirated
No it's not omg the cars are road cars they were not designed in there current config to do a 24 hr race.. Maybe turn a few laps but 24hrs that's so funny.... The best measure is 5 or 10 laps on a wide selection of tracks in different conditions
It's fun speculating which hypercar will come out on top at NS although it'll probably take a while before the Ferrari in particular takes a run at the green hell. But now that Mclaren has shown half its cards (well partly with the other half -the performance specs -probably announced during the Paris show), do you think this gives Ferrari the opportunity to fettle the F70 to one-up the P1?
Some days it's possible, some days it's not. At touristenfahrten, they close down the long straight (Döttinger Höhe) because the drivers/tourists need to "pay" for their lap somewhere. There are barries at Döttinger Höhe where you need to enter your Ring card. If you rent the track for a day, you can do full laps all you want. The whole straight is open so you can do running lap after running lap.
By cheating, I did mean that Ferrari is often the best at coaxing the best out of what it is working with... And I still say the best way to determine the best car is to drive them all. I volunteer. The lamest thing about the P1 and 918 are the engines. I don't care how much power and what not, at the end of the day a NA V12 is more exciting than a blown V8. Period. This segment of automobile market is not about saving the planet, it's about standing your hair up.
Neither could run a 24 hour race. A race version of the P12 would be a lot faster as a V12 is way to fuel inefficient. P12 could be turned into an EXP2 Hybrid that could race but the F70 couldn't be.
Explain? Pagani has done VERY well and shouldn't be underestimated. 6.55 est for the P12...wow. A pagani Zonda R does it in 6.48, and that's with slicks I believe jim. I personally don't think a road car could come that close unless it runs slicks too and has active aero.
