Seem to remember seeing him pictured with the car. I think he owned stock in Fiat.
Anyway with the situation in Libya rather chaotic, wonder if he left any Ferraris behind?

This proves that only the best people drive 400s. I knew he was a man of impeccable taste.

It has a larger grille on the bonnet.

What's the point of the xxl hood vents. Just looks like more of the engine would get wet when it rains.

There is a watermelon colored 400i (#50807) that Sheehan has for sale with the same 11 or 12 opening hood vent.

    http://ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-400I-50807

    From the listing:
"The hood scoop is two-and-a-half times larger than on other 400is. The interior has a double-insulated leather headliner, extra sound deadening and heat-resistant panels, specifically designed for desert driving conditions."

I know there was one made to test carbon fiber as a body material.
But wasn't there two? Both probably sold in Italy?
They couldn't sell them in the U.S. because first the 400 was not a U.S. spec. model and secondly even if it was, the convertible wouldn't have been if it was a one-off (two off?)
Anybody have a picture of it, I'd like to see if it looked as good as the Straman version.

I think it must be to aid cooling when he was driving across the desert to oppress distant citizens.

Exactly. Just like the Garrison 400i 50807, the extra vents probably were for additional cooling in the hot desert conditions of Libya.
