One in my town, a little too modern for me though. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/5550-Mckinley-St_Omaha_NE_68152_M77779-84640?source=web
Wow...looks like somebody wanted to put every single cool design idea they ever had in one house and they had not a single care about how it would all go together.
I more than suspect the after looking at google the old original house was awaiting demo for the new house to be completed. It looks like a nice wooded site that this house was designed into with a bit of thought as opposed to clear cutting. There is a lot of nice detailing in this project. I'd argue its more than a bit nicer than the one up the page in post 1151 which is just a haphazard collection of forms, details and spaces. This NB project seems a bit more cohesive and "modern" at least from the pictures. It comes across as a bit of a tree house influence and trying to get up in the canopy as opposed to just plopped on the ground. and 6k sf for $995,000 seems a bit of a bargain...
+1 not well resolved by the builder ...the house has some neat features, but not a whole IMO ...the wood structures try to give it some interest, but what a dusting nightmare
Designed and constructed by Randy Brown Architects, Omaha. Originally architects residence. Described on his web site as a "laboratory". In my eyes it lacks the cohesiveness of either Entasis Group, Denver or Charles R. Stinson, Minneapolis.
Casa Kimball is a private beach house get-away and luxury rental villa located on the North coast of the Dominican Republic. Its positioned on a cliff with an awesome panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Even though it has great terraces, infinite edge pool, outdoor jacuzzi and tall windows it is designed to be protected from views of neighboring villas. The interior spaces merge with exterior spaces, all of which are designed to allow ocean breezes under shade from the sun, throughout the year. The villa is about 20,000 square feet, and includes two indoor and two outdoor lounges, a dining room with a view centered on the pool out to the ocean, and an outdoor bar area. The 45m long pool form the center piece of Casa Kimball is one of its main features. Every room in the house has a view of the infinity edge and ocean beyond. Three different levels of platforms within the pool allow guests to lie flat in the water, sit and lounge. Using a deep blue slightly reflective tile, the pools surface changes color to match the ocean. Swimming in the pool out toward the ocean creates the illusion of being in the ocean itself, one sees nothing but the endless horizon where water meets sky. As one who prefers a more conventional modern aesthetic, I can't help but say that this is pretty f***ing cool.
This house is called Yucatan and is located in Brazil. The family that owns it, is a family of completists which is keen on art. The house excites with its size and design: there are many rooms, theres a garden and a spacious pool. The design reminds of a gallery, the house is good enough both for kids and parents. The interior is modern and very cozy: lots of natural wood, light colors and a big living room platform in the center of the room. I love the book shelves that go around the room; the interior is in harmony with all that pieces of art that the family gathers. The owners may enjoy the amazing views of tropical nature due to the glass walls. ^ more potential than the decorator knew what to do with. Poor interior design compromised an otherwise great achitectual design. Ed
