I have a 308GTSi-USA version and re-installed the fuel tanks today. Forgot how to put all the fuel vapor lines back and checked the manual. It seems Euro cars don't have the charcoal canister (B) and liquid vapor seperator (D) see drawing. I managed to break 1 of the 3 small line connectors (H) on the passenger side fuel tank so now I'm thinking to simplify everything by leaving this extra stuff off. How to proceed?
I was thinking of connecting a breathing hose to the connection just under the filler opening that goes down into the wheelwell and is open to the atmosphere, then connect the 2 tanks with the existing metal line on the bigger connectors and plug the 1 smaller connector left on the driverside tank and the 3 left (of which one already is plugged) on the other tank. Leaving out the separator and charcoal canister. Is this thinking right? Vapors from the passenger tank can go to the driver tank and from there breath into the atmosphere by the line under the filler neck.

My USA 308 is missing the canister for some reason & u can't believe the stink when I park the car in the garage. Glue the piece u broke back on with JB Weld or whatever & keep the canister.

anybody has a drawing of the euro fuel vapor system, or can describe in words how it is?
What I did now is to reinstall everything as it was but the line from the cannister that should go to the inlet manifold I have left downwards and open ended and I plugged the intake manifold. I don't like all these extra connections to the vacuum part of the inlet, all possible false air leaks and good running disturbers!

You can get the canister from Year One company (repro company for pony cars) it was a US item for US cars.

    Hi Bert
You can see the Euro system in a 308GT4 parts manual (which also has the US version for comparison). See http://dino308gt4.com
Tav 51 & 51A are for US cars, Tav 9 is Euro. The only obvious difference between the GT4 and GTS/GTB is the vent connections on the filler section.

Thanks for that link, there wasn't a similar drawing in the euro GTBi/GTSi parts manual. Only vented with an open ended line in the filler pipe I see. But I read here: http://www.auto-solve.com/mech_inj.htm that with a K Jetronic car the fuel tank is not vented at all, to allow a slight build up of pressure by fuel evaporation, to help supply the fuel pump... I will leave it as I have it now, and check after some fuel is used if there is build up of pressure or vacuum. I hope to gonna use some fuel next week! First attempts at starting today after 3 years, engine turns nice at least no valve/piston contact or grinding noises but there is no current at the fuel pump, have to sort that out but is another topic.
It has no influence on the exhaust fumes quality, tha absence can only be determined by a visual check. But as I am in Europe I don't need to have all that weird stuff on my car. Many systems were already removed when I bought it, freightening all these loose wires and empty connecters everywhere...
