    Hello everybody,

I am new to the forum and to the world of Ferrari's as I recently bought my first! (a '98 355 F1) Wohoo...!...except my mechanic informs me I have a problem... not so wohoo :(
Apparently the Pump for the F1 Tranny is shot and will no longer hold compression. This part from Ferrari is a frightening $12K+ and I am trying to seek alternative measures. Can anyone advise on where to locate a used pump? perhaps from a wrecked car? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks everyone
    -TK

Giovanni Alboreto at Capristo (32-473288288, www.capristo.be) appears to have one for 3000 Euros, according to a recent FML. I think this kind of situation is going to lead to a reversal of values betwixt manual and F1 cars a few years down the line. Good luck getting the pump.

Sorry, TK, I spoke too soon. The pump available for EU3k is a 360 pump- aren't they different?

    JMN,
Thanks for the help, though a 360 pump is different, it will work, but takes some retrofitting time and energy... A last resort I guess.
    Thanks again

Oh man, Ernie...that's just mean! That's like those TV shows that suck you in only to tell you to tune back in next week for the conclusion.

Do a search (except, after your search you have to email me for the answer)!

    Pause...

Just kiddin' ya, man. It's nice to see the 348 Brotherhood helping out our younger 355 siblings.

The 360 pumps are different, apparently. Replacement cost for the 360 unit at the local Ferrari dealer was under $1,000.

Well Guys, I appreciate all of your help, and at this point, if I can get lucky enough to find a 355 Pump, then that's the immediate answer, if not, then I will have to buy a 360 pump ($1000) and have it retrofitted, (thankfully my mechanic has done this before), unfortunately it's costly in labor.

Ernie, if you know where to get one, don't hold out on me man ;)

    Thanks again everyone!

    One more thing.

If you read the thread, you will want to check the relays for the pump. Make sure they are still good.

;) Damn ernie, you're good for business! Sold a handful of those relays in the last few weeks. How much commission do I owe you?

Might be cheaper to pay the extra labor to retrofit the 360 part then the price that you will get the 355 part for.
