Where to place jack stands on a 360

Can anyone tell me where I can safely put jack stands on my 360 coupe. The obvious place would be at the jacking points under the car but if the jack is there holding up the car, I cannot put a stand. Your imput would be greatly appreciated

On a 360 coupe there are no diffusers under the car like a Stradale. The flat matte black suspension support is exposed (looking from the rear). If you have a low profile jack you can lift the rear of the car up from under those wing shaped suspension supports. You can then place your jack stands at the jacking points.

 

Really, no risk of damage by doing that? What about the front ?

 

No risk of damage other than scratching the paint under the suspension support. If your low profile jack has a rubber pad (or use a rubber drink coaster or something) you will prevent it from scratching. The front is easier since there is a regular jacking point as well as the edge of the frame where the wheel well is. You can jack it up from the edge of the frame and place your jack under the jacking points.

Let's be clear - he does not mean the wing shaped cross-member. That is hollow and houses the sway bar. It will bend. You need to be under the suspension attach points.

 

Actually I did mean the wing shaped cross member. I've jacked multiple 360s up (one jack on each wing) with no issue whatsoever. If he can get a jack under the suspension point then that would be ideal but I believe it's too far under the car to get a jack under there. I've had no issues jacking the car up by the cross member. Maybe it was because I was using two jacks (one under each side) which meant less pressure on one side.

 

I do have a low profile jack with a rubber pad...bought it especially for my 360. I thought
those cross members were hollow...would not want to damage them. I'll try and see if i can reach the suspension and go from there.

I use the standard side jack points, remove the rear wheels, and then put the jack under the upright knuckle. It sits perfectly in the cradle of my jack stands. Using this jack point allows you to at the same stick a stand under the standard jack point in the front.

 

I'm sure this would work well also.

 

I was going to ask "if you use the jack points, but then how do you remove the underbody shield (since it just has a hole cut in it)"... but your post addresses this. thanks

 

I've done the same. The tube does in fact get dented up, but if you move the stands out toward the wheel and have it touch where there is a weld line then less (no) denting really occurs.

 

I have a 360 Spider so dont know if it is different, but there is a jack rest point about 5 inches behind each front wheel and about 4 inches in from the outer rocker panel. For the rear wheels, there is an indented jack point about 7 inches in front of the rear wheels and about 5 inches in from the outer rocker panel.

Your owners manuel should show the best places to jack the car, I know mine does. If you look under the car you can see the circular indentations.

I am well aware of where the jack points are. My question was , where to place the stands so that I can remove all 4 wheels.

There's also a link to a main site (?) that shows how it works and a you tube link. Looks like you jack the car up on the jack point, put the stand at the same place, lower the car and remove the jack.

Sorry - couldn't find a picture of any underneath a 360, but here's a close up of how the car ends up on the jack stand. Here's a video of how you get it there. Bottom line - once you know where to put the jack - you know where to put the stand cuz they go in the same place.
