just came back from monaco to geneva this morning after race weekend. the italian highways back to the mont blanc tunnel are pretty much fair game for ferraris, and the stretch of road from the coast to torino has some very long straight sections which are vmax worthy when the traffic is light. just to let you 456mgt owners know that your car can easily sustain 280kmh for a very long way.... but ran into traffic around torino and rain on the last stretch to aosta so the time dropped to 4 hours and 5 min from the top of monaco to the border in geneva. was trying to get it under 4 hrs. just going to have to try harder next time.

Ross, top stuff ;-) do the car dynamics change significantly - i.e. does the aerodynamics, steering, poise change - does it reap confidence or I better slow down soon.

Looks like you had the perfect weekend, bar maybe the weather.

    kind regards Aamir.

Pictures??? Sounds awesome. I did the same drive but in a Fiat rental car. I can't imagine it with a Ferrari.

Yes, blasting through the Italian Riviera and/or the Alps in a front-engined V12 Ferrari is one of those visceral, life-affirming experiences that one must do while here on this planet.

On my bucket list, it's got to be in the top 10.

Thanks for the report Ross :)

    Any pictures of your 456?

I live in Geneva too and would love to go to Monaco with my BMW 850CSi. That must be a great trip!

Some pictures of my car here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=195505

I just did a trip from Amsterdam to Maranello with my Maranello. 7 countries in 7 days, and popped the 300km/h cherry. Nothing like a road trip in Europe! :D

Thanks for the story Ross, glad the 456 is still being used for what it was made to do.

these are the angles that most people saw...except for the carrera gt and the murcielago that passed me.
these cars are generally very stable at speed, and the 456 is now exception. it may feel ponderous around town, but when you are really moving it just feels like a vault. and unlike the 512tr the wind noise is minimal, and the ride is comfortable. must say tho that i was a bit disappointed with the brakes in the curvy bits, the 512tr is much more planted and pointed. probably a layout issue as well.

Beautiful pics, Ross - thanks for sharing :)

One of the nicest colors for the 456!

Maybe we could organize a drive in the area with our V12s during the summer (if you wait for me that is...)?

    Cheers,

    Alx

P.S.: I have seen in another topic that you were looking for a boat in Geneva. I have one (not for sale at the moment) in front of the Kempinski. If you are still looking for one, I have some friends in the business.
