    Hey guys,

Just inspected a <1k mi 599 for a relative and I don't know them inside out yet. There are two things I was suspicious of though so I was hoping someone could help me confirm...

    1) I recall Ferrari aligns all the panels perfectly by hand BEFORE it goes in for paint, and as such the hardware for the latches are painted with the body (like on most cars these days). This particular 599 had unpainted nuts & studs attaching the latch to the bonnet. Is this normal? I tried finding pictures of other cars online but there was nothing high res. enough to tell.

    2) The same hardware for the bootlid IS painted, but I found some chips and marks on the hex heads that would indicate the trunk has been adjusted at the very least (or possibly even removed?).

I looked at the car very closely and all the paintwork seems to match as it should, the car is in overall excellent condition with no other indications of bodywork but these were some red flags. I'd appreciate anyone's input that could point me in the right direction. Perhaps this is common? I really don't know but would like to find out if 599's have any of these nuances before jumping to conclusions...

    Thanks in advance.

I spec'd and ordered mine new directly from the dealer/factory. I no longer own the car and to tell you the truth. I have absolutely no idea to this day if the nuts and latches were either painted or unpainted. However, ask anything about the driving experience and I 'm sure many of us can help you out.

Wasn't sure if these would help, but it's all I got. I'm not an owner, huge Tifosi, but have never really paid attention to what you mentioned, sorry. Maybe you've already seen these, but just in case you haven't. Good Luck!

I just realized after posting the pics below that you said, "boot lid," I'm a dumbass. Trying to find other pics now. Let me know if you still need any or not. Grazie! Ciao!

No problem Mark. I've been searching every photo website on the web and I saw another 599 with unpainted hardware for the HOOD :) so I think it's ok. Still unclear about the TRUNK hardware though.

I wouldn't expect anyone to remember off the top of their head. It's such a small detail but if i'm going to endorse such an expensive car to a family member on the other side of the country I don't want to look like a fool if there was something fishy.

Heh, thanks anyways! This one is a 6spd manual. I know everyone swears by the F1 but my relative is coming out of a '06 612scag with three pedals and refuses to get the 'video game transmission'. I've been told only 27 599's came with standard gearboxes, which makes finding one in a desirable color a challenge...

I have spent quite a bit of time around a 599 and am fairly sure the bolts on the boot are painted, my suggestion would be to have a good look at the entire rear of the car and see if there is anything else strange.
