Gallardo nearly flips after hitting a speed bump... http://www.autoblog.com/2006/02/20/video-speed-bump-in-dubai-sends-gallardo-airborn/
Holy sh*T! That's insane. Really retarded to have a huge bump like that in the middle of the road and not warn them about it. looks like it's in the middle of a normal street!
Why the **** would someone do that to there car ? IF they did know.. If they didnt, thats the most dangerous thing I have ever seen.
LOL! That was pretty crazy. Oh well, People over there go through exotics like a pair of shoes; It's gonna be a very easy fix.
It looks obvious that the guy had no clue it was there. He probably bashed his head on the dash if it did not set off the airbag. Its just crazy!
The Aholes shooting the video were probably the ones who installed the speed bump Thats definately reckeless endangerment although I highly doubt suing the govt would even be possible there.
Actually, the government installed the speedbump, so I think, with what people get away with these days, it would be an excellent case. Section of the story: "The government of Dubai installed a rather large speed bump on a street that locals had developed a habit of travelling on at very high speeds. Only one minor problem, the government didn't tell anyone it had installed the speed bump. Without a sign of warning vehicles hit the mound and leave terra firma, only to land in a shower of sparks as their suspensions bottom out." Maybe not. Here's some pics of the aftermath (scroll down): http://www.jabbasworld.net/viewtopi...=31975&start=20 Image Unavailable, Please Login
People are always looking to blame someone else. The driver of the Gallardo should blame him or herself if they didn't see it, and should blame themself if they were travelling too fast to avoid it. The Government should use the same logic as many people seem to have and file suit against the Gallardo owner and operator for the damage they caused to the speed bump and the roadway. The Gallardo was travelling too fast for the area (that's why the speed bump was put in to begin with. The speed bump was not installed around a corner. It is across a straight section of roadway. When people hit obstacles in the roadway, the trend seems to be to blame the gov't who either installed it, hadn't fixed it yet, or weren't even aware of it. Lest we all forget that we drive on the roadways at our own risk. The speed you operate your vehicle should slow enough that you can avoid obstacles in the roadway, whether it's a speed bump or a child chasing a ball out into the road. I would be willing to bet that if the Gallardo operator was travelling at a much slower speed, ie. the posted speed limit, and paying full attention to the roadway, they would have been able to see the speed bump in adequate time to further reduce their speed and navigate the obstacle in a safe manner. Personal accountability for ones decision to speed on a public road. What "speed bump warning" would be satisfactory? A sign at the speedbump certainly wouldn't have prevented that impact. The excess speed of travel of the Gallardo was clearly the proximate cause of the problem. I don't have any issue with people choosing to drive in a spirited manner, but they should do it where it is reasonably safe and be willing to accept any of the dangers that go along with the privilege of being able to drive a Gallardo and drive on public roads.
Synergy, I think that the speed bump is making that road a more dangerous place to be, especially if drivers are not made aware of the fact that it is there. Sooner or later one of those unsuspecting drivers is going to lose control and hit oncoming traffic. The fact that the video shows so many cars becoming airborn and that several of them do not appear to be going extremely fast seems to me to prove that whoever put it there has created a safety hazard. I agree that drivers must behave responsibly but whoever put it there also has to take some responsibility for coming up with a safer solution for speed control. In the USA, I can guarantee that the bump in question wouldn't last a week before the first multi-million dollar law suit was filed. Of course, given the frivolous lawsuit problem here, that is not saying much. John
what i did was download it, and there is a certain part where it freezes for me, i dunno if that is happening to you, but when that happens, just move the scroll bar up a little and it will work.
I got the same things as matty and I used fast forward as that does usually work, but it didnt in this instance.
Whose ever idea it was to not mark the speed bump clearly and put up a sign needs swift kick in the nuts.
