This project has been taking me forever.... LOL I'm attempting to convert a White/Black TR Spyder to Blue/Tan. I also bought the interior transkit from scaledetails.com - This is making it possible to cover the plastic Seats, Dash, Doors, and center console in leather. It also includes real carpeting. Been working on the car for a while - Primered the paint & then re-painting in blue.... Maybe a few more weeks & I can finally finish it! Here are some before pics & some progress pics. I bought the original White TR Spyder from a fellow F-Chatter. I hope you enjoy them. Very nicely painted, It looks great!!! but why a spider, I figured you would try to make it like the one you have Beautiful I love these 1:8 models Cheers George.
You would think, huh? I don't know, the extra one I happenned to have was a spyder, so I went with that - I'm still trying to make it like mine - Painting the side skirts, back grill, and front spoiler blue. I could never get it exactly like mine, due to the rims, so know at least I know what the car looks like in spyder form. Will post some more pics in a month or so when it is all done.
lol - Sweet avatar!! I'm using rattle cans - I tried using an airbrush, but I am a mess.... Wasn't working out at all - No idea what i was doing really.... I ended up using a flat white as the base coat and for the blue, I used Testors Spray Enamel - # 1639 - Sapphire Blue Metal Flake. I have everything painted now - I'll finish it off with a few coats of Testors Clear Coat.
Why dontcha try mini-ostritch for the interior? Looks real good, the interior shots are kinda confusin me a bit (heh) but I can't wait to see it finished.
LOL - I should get some Ostritch from William. hehe Yah, not done with the interior yet - Still have another seat to go, etc. Also need to figure out where to display these suckers - They take up a lot of room!
Jerry buddy... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW....THIS is art, I love the color and the details - please post more pics while you're "rebuilding" it Really, relly nice man - please keep it up.... I'll check in more often on your thread Paul
Just one quiz.. Is the door (intake) made of die-cast or plastic like the regular 1/18, on a 1/8 I belive it might be solid die-cast, but I wanna know to be sure, I dont have so much experience with 1/8. The paint job looks great too.....so please dont drop it in the floor
the leather on the seats looks great but the console grain is way out of proportion... nice "spray bomb" paint job although I would have chosen a silver base coat that blue should be metallic : )
Tried to make it the same color as my car. The factory color is Chiaro_Blue Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Silver base would have been a good choice, but I have no idea what I am doing. Not sure what you mean regarding the console.
I am almost done - Still fiddling around with the hood, the driver side mirror, side lights, & Pininfirina badging. The front trunk area was done with black carpet. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks - Me too. Couple of more before pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
nice jerry! Suggestion - paint the rear grill back to black (too much blue). One idea I'm playing with on my car is to modify the mirrors to be 'high mount' versions.
I think Jerry's idea is to make this model as simular to his stunning TR 1/1 as possible (apart from the roof though)
