Wow! Yet another nice car burned up that didn't have so much as a $130 automatic fire extinguisher in the engine bay.

Fuel burns. Who woulda thunk it...

It definately burned weird..... its clearly burned in the drivers side front of the engine bay and behind the seats, but strangely, the seat bottoms and floorboards and even the center console look ok yet the dash is clearly melted, maybe the fire traveled up the interior roof to hit the dash?

At first, I thought it was a "joy ride then burn it" thing, but you figure they would have doused it with gas and left, burning the entire interior. I really cant tell what exactly happened.

You could speculate that the fire started in the engine bay, but the dash thing really throws it.

Anyway, too bad, I like TDF blue.

$0 on the smart side up to $60k on the hopeful-but-clueless side for new frame/roof, glass, engine, tranny, wiring, ecus, interior, instruments, air bags, sensors, etc.

It would be a labor of love to put it all back together, but as it sits.... parts car.

West Marine special ordered two Fire Foe engine bay automatic fire extinguishers for me for $130 each. There's a West Marine within 5 miles of your place.

Looks like the fittings for the fuel rails started the fire. Then maybe the tank caught fire and burned the inside.

A lot of variables. Hard to estimate the repair cost but almost certainly way beyond it's final value.

Several pricey items were behind the seats.

What exactly are those? One appears to be the ECU for fuel injection (Motronic). What are the other 2? Sorry, I'm not at 355 guy, I'm just curious.

That is so sad to see. If it was a $10,000 example I would probably buy it and just fix it for fun, knowing that there would be a lot of time and money to get it back on the road again.

The interior would cost a lot of money to replace with used parts, but the steel framing under the roof thats burned should be replaced too, as it would be embrittled and semi dangerous. After that you would have to tackle paint work, glass, and then the motor. You could do what Russ has done with his Mondial and convert the car to Weber carbs, but....... But this car really is salvage, as the costs to repair it far outweigh its value, and none of you would ever pay top dollar for the car knowing its burned no matter how thorough of job is done. Add in a salvage title and carfax history, and its toast, in more ways than one. Really, if you bought the car and tried fixing it, you would easily dump another $30K into it, and thats probably all it would ever be worth. In parts its probably worth that now.

It's nothing more than a parts car now.

The salvaged title is the DEATH of this car. Too bad that an F car had to die this way, because the frame/chassis is not scrap (IMHO).

For $20k, it'd make a good toy. Do the interior in red & black alcantera, carbon fiber seats, chopped roof, etc!!!

this could be a good track car do what ever needs to be done with the engine strip out everything from the interior put one omp race seat buy a race steering wheel and guages paint for the roof and a new hood and your good to go but this would still be a pretty penny
