Does anyone know where to pick up one of these? Even though the BP is a fair weather car, it would make it a touch more practical to throw one of these on when parked either out in the sun or overnight. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am shocked at how beautiful this car looks as a roadster and how it totally transforms the car into a butt ugly car (IMHO) when something is put on to cover the top. My Barchetta will NEVER see something like this on it no matter how pratical it is. That's like taking a beautiful runway model and dressing her in a MooMoo because she eating corn..AINT GONNA HAPPEN. Jon in Delaware
Jon, I agree with you 100%, but I don't think that "cover" is just a rag thrown over the OEM top as Gustan suggests...................would be useful for parking and protection from the elements purposes only. I wouldn't be caught dead driving with the OEM top on or any other "top" on for that matter.
I found these people difficult to work with in terms of time to completion and the many shipments back and forth on the prototype, but they can produce a decent top with true Ferrari clips. They advertise, I've noticed a lot on ebay. Talk to John, he's the guy on these tops. http://stores.ebay.com/Rich-and-Famous-Auto-Tops But I honestly believe you can just get the clips from him and go to a local seamstress and do it faster, and better on yhour own. my 2cents
The top does not look up, you can see the windows are rolled up at the cloth outlines the window tops and roll bars. Prolly just tucked under teh wipers too. Any seamstress should be able to put one of these together
Never seen one. I suspect someone had it custom made by a Canvas Shop (Boating). Pretty easy job. Wouldn't be expensive.
Those were my exact thoughts as well Simon.........."wouldn't be expensive".............until they found out that Barchetta is a Ferrari! ugghhh
Guys, I'm on it but I need a bit of help. As you may or may not know, Daniel @ RICAMBI is the sole distributor of my Spider Top, Spider Top/GTS and Berlinetta Shade. He's our title sponsor and has pictures and description of the different models. If you look at the pics of the yellow 430 Spider in the "Spider Top" section of RICAMBI'S website, you'll see the direction I'm taking with St for the Barchetta. My problem is finding a Barchetta in my area (Burbank/Los Angeles) that I can get to for fitting purposes. If you're in my area and will allow me to use your car as my model, please PM me. The top for that car will be a thank you gift. Two Barchetta owners have already contacted RICAMBI regarding Spider Tops ($199) and unfortunately, we're not yet able to help out. But I promise, I'm working on that Cheers, Hank
Yes Hank thats it! I contacted Ricambi yesterday and they were going to look into it. But it looks like you're already on top of this. What measurements do you need and I could take them on my car and send to you, but I'm sure you can find someone with a Barchetta down there. I think a dealer might have one or so down there.
Can the barchetta take some sort of tonneau cover or something, which just covers the cockpit below the windows? That used to be pretty common on the old British cars.
Hi CW, If your post was in answer to my post #10, allow my to say thanks for the kind thought. Cheers, Hank
You may want to stop by Sunmark in Kirkland to see what they can do. Queen City autobody suggested them to me several years ago when I was considering an interior re-do and I repeatedly hear good things about their work.
Is there more interest in this product? Will likely be having one made up in the near future, unless some one else does...
I have a Barchetta with a custom tonneau cover that I rarely use even though it looks good and works well. I think the beauty of the car is that it is a pure convertible and looks best in that form. I live in Newport if anyone cares to see the tonneau cover or measure the car for another potential application.
Hi Max. Do you have any pictures you could post? I agree the beauty of the car is being a roadster, however it would be nice to be able to throw a cover over the cockpit to keep it cool on hot summer days and also at night, if the car is parked outside.
