Does anyone have any idea how many Daytonas were originally painted in this shade of green? Verde Germoglio? I have seen a few dark green Daytonas over the years, but none in this shade. Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fortunately changed in the 80's but for Rosso Corsa. Currently the car is in the paint shop and will get a new colour scheme. In couple of weeks the progress of the restoration will be posted in the Registry Forum. While stripping the car to bare metal I found some traces of the 'Green' paint, not the best shade of green in my opinion. Max.

Max, thanks for the update. I actually find the paint color Verde Germoglio quite nice. Not to take anything away from the more traditional Daytona colors, I just find that seeing a rare color on a beautiful car quite refreshing from the red, black, blue, silver, yellow one normally finds on the Daytona. Any idea how many were originally painted in that color from factory? I am sure that there were very, very few, but now I'm on a quest. Can you supply any photos of your car in Verde Germoglio before your repaint? Steve
Steve, I bought the car three years ago and it was already Red. (repainted in the 80's) It will be very difficult to establish how many cars were painted in this shade of green. Maybe someone from the DaytonaRegistry knows or someone at the factory? I collect pictures of different Daytonas through the Internet, and I have only seen your car which I believe was for sale in France last summer. Best of luck, Max.
Steve, I found a website that indicates three daytonas were painted Verde Germoglio. There are also a few more pictures of a Verde Germoglio Daytona on the site. Being in SE Michigan, I'm curious if you are looking to purchase a Daytona in this color, repaint yours, or just collecting some pictures and information? Very nice to see Ferraris in unusual colors. Regards, Craig
Could Verde Germoglio be derived from this? 250 GTO chassis # 3505, painted pale green in 1962 to match UDT Laystall team colours Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Craig, I did not find the photo of this Daytona on my original post on the link that you sent, but thanks; that has got to be the same Daytona. If this color were available as original, not a repaint, I would consider purchasing. I am really only concerned about those cars that have original paint/interior; anyone can repaint/restore, but you can never go back to what once was. I love those rare "factory" colors. Any of you guys feel the same? Steve
Max, Your car, given its VIN, should have the engine compartment rain gutters painted body color, not black. That didn't happen until later in 1971. Steve
The Green found under the paint could be primer, that was a standard colour of after market primers in the uk [not sure about France] especially on ally. bodied cars. By the way, i think the light green looks great, my car had been resprayed british racing green [dark green] but i hope to return it to it's origional colour of celesti blue.
Steve, yes you are correct. Whoever painted my car red used the black where it shouldn't be. In my picture above you can see where I scraped of the 'newer' black paint to reveal the old and original paint scheme. I will definitely not make this mistake when painting the car. Thanks for your comments, Max.
