I can see the difference between the two models from the front - the headlights and grille. But what about from the side and rear? Are they distinguishable from those angles?

what were they thinking with that silly 575 badge? totally not necessary, imo.

given the way the skin sheet metal is done, it would have been a lot of work i think to have changed the back and sides. i'll bet money they're identical - all they did was jigger the hood air intake and the lower bumper.

They didn't need to, that red 575 looks gorgeous. This is the ONLY car designed in the mid-90's that could STILL look gorgeous today because it has none of that curvy mess that was so common then, it is a timeless piece.

Love the Steer head on that 575! Where are the horns on the grille?

You aren't far off. I saw a brand new burnt orange 350Z with longhorngs on the hood and burnt orange tint.
It's safe to say that 575 is owned by a Texas Alumni.

This is nit-picking....but the top of the rear bumper on the 550 has a foot long indentation just under the Ferrari horse insignia(just at the extreme bottom of the trunk edge)....I cant see that same indent on the 575.

Reminds me of..."one of these things is different form the other, one of these things is not the same".....

Yep, it's owned by a Texas alum all right. After having gone through the 348 spider, 355 spider, 360 (coue and spider) I wanted something that was timless in design. I think they accomplished that! It will never have the raw cutting edge look or feel of the V8's but it will always be a grand car to drive and one of the classic red-heads for the history books just like its sister the 550.

    OK, always a wisea$$
    Difference between 575 and 550??
    25 :D
Factually, the 575 has a different transmission scoop...top looks similar, but internals are different.
575 does not have fuel cooling system.
575 Hood scoop is very slightly larger
575 has electronic throttle bodies, 550 does not.
    575 has Xenon lights.
    550 smiles, 575 does not.
Still one of the best looking cars out of Maranello. Lusso, 4cam, Daytona, and GTO influences. Plus, most useable, reliable Ferrari in ages.
Hmmmm, if they only made a droptop.... ;)
SA hit port today, should be here in couple weeks. Later than I'd hoped, but worth wait.

before this thread, that was the only way i could tell one coupe from the other (and that because of the smile, the holes are bigger on the 575M)

As nice as the 550 is, after seeing all these pics, I prefer the 575.
    But I'll get a 550 first, less $$$$.

yea, me too. i always preferred the 550 grille to the 575's, but now that i'm seeing more 575 pics i think i'm changing my mind. however i still like the classic gauge layout of the 550 better than the big central tach of the newer ones.
