Alright, ive been wondering about this a lot, cause i take pics of Fcars but sometimes i dont get the year and such, but is their a way to notice the differnce between lets say a 1999 360 and a 2004 360, or the differnce between the 550 and the 575, i know about the lights on the grill... all by looking at the exterior or the interior...

    but just wondering...

    thanks and good night

    John

As far as I know, there's no visual way to tell a 1999 360 from a 2004 360 (or any other model year 360) except for the VIN...

There are several clues on telling the difference between a 550 and a 575M... The wheels (both regular and modular), the headlights, the front fascia, the indent below the rear deck lid, etcetera...

The front air intake on the hood of 575 is larger as well.

I did not know that... I'm looking at various pictures and can't see a difference... Do you know the specs of either...? Do you know the size difference...?

In post #6, you'll notice that the silver car - the 575M - has a badge on the trunk lid that says "575M"... I was recently told that this was an option only with a certain year of the 575M (2003?) but I don't know for sure... Maybe someone else can confirm this... If true, that would be one way to identify a 575M by its year...

Below is a Euro-spec 575M... Note the small ovals just below the headlights; the headlight washers... US-spec 575Ms are not equipped with headlight washers, so this is one visual aid in helping determine a US car from a Euro car... As far as I know, headlight washers came standard on all 575Ms... Also, as far as I know, headlight washers were not available on the 550 for any market... The new 599 GTB Fiorano has headlight washers and I have a feeling US-spec 599s will have them as well...

I have pictures of a 2005 Euro-spec 575M with the "575M" badge on the trunk lid, so maybe it was an option just for one year, just for the US...? Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated...

    Your Awesome! Thanks a lot.

What year or if they did, stop with the rear grill of being the same color on the car and like an 01-05, the back grill is black with the ferrari emblem on it...would you be able to find a 2004 with one, or was the back of the ferrari the same color as the rest only in the early years......or does it come down that it is just an option??

    Thanks a lot

    John...

I'm sorry, but you lost me here... Black rear grilles...? Are you referring to another model, the 360 Modena/360 Spider/Challenge Stradale perhaps...? There are no rear "grilles" on the 550/575M models...

If you're referring to the 360 Modenas, 360 Spiders and Challenge Stradales, the black rear grilles are Challenge grilles... They're metal grilles with thousands of tiny little holes in them, allowing for better heat dispersion from the engine... Challenge grilles were an option starting with the 355s... Challenge grilles continued with the 360s, but front Challenge grilles were added as an option... Front and rear Challenge grilles came standard on all Challenge Stradales... Front Challenge grilles are standard on the F430s and I still don't know what's going on with rear grilles for the F430s yet...

My "informant" tells me that the badge was a standard feature for the car but it wasn't added until after the launch; it was added in 2003... The problem I have is that on a lot of the pictures I have of 2003 and 2004 575Ms, the badge is not present... Was the option to leave it off available...? I don't see how that could be with something standard... Anyone...?

    haha...sorry, i was referring to the 360.

Ferrari should just start putting the year on the name of the car on the outside...lol...no, i dont think so.

True, ive seen a lot of 575's without the badge in the back...especially some 04's

it could be just an option
