f1 vs 6speed vs$

I believe new it was about $10K more for the F1 wasn't it?

Correct I have the F1 dont know that I would have paid 10k as an option I have always had 6 speed I like the F1 but 10K ???????

 

I think $10K for the option is correct. I don't think it holds that value on a used car at all - market seems about the same for 6-speed vs. F1.

Rarely does a tiptronic, f1 or whatever hold value in the aftermarket. In Porsche, it will actually reduce the value of the car as few find it desirable which surprises me since they are more of a daily driver, but that's the way it is. I owned a tip and got stung when I sold it. Fortunately I didn't buy it new. If Ferrari didn't have such a great reputation with F1's, it might be the same story. I love the six speed and love seeing that shifter when I get in the car. In my opinion, over the years the six-speeds will begin to be ever so slightly worth more as they are rarer.

I think new car production is 90/10 F1 vs stick. I have heard that on the replacement for the 430 that F1 may be only option. When I got my '07 spider in April, my dealer told me that if I had wanted an F1, I would have waited one more year.

 

Local dealer once told me he pays more for early 360's with sticks and about the same for later ones. Once the warranty is gone, buyers are more leary of the additional issues paddles seem to have, even on 430's. If the next model is paddles only, that could make 360's and 430's with sticks very desirable. But I am biased.

I just picked up a 6 speed 430. I ordered it this way because 1) $13K option 2) only about 15% of F430 were 6 spd. 3) The F1 option will eat up clutches and have higher maintainace costs and I plan to keep the car for ever.
The difference between the Porsche Tip and the F1 is that the Porsche Tip is really an automatc tranny (no clutch) that uses buttons to shift and the F1 has a clutch with no pedal that is electronic. I have the SMG on my BMW M5 and for a track the F! with clearly outshift a manual. I do not plan on tracking my F car and enjoy going through the gears with the stick shift and I do not live in an area with lots of traffic where I could end up on a freeway in stop and go traffic where a clutch can get old real quick.

 

Is that true of the 360s as well? The manual clutch gets into less maintenance costs than the F1?

 

It is my understanding that this is true.
