Traveling to Maranello in 2 weeks and have tried securing a visit to the factory itself, but without much luck. Haven't been completely denied, just sporadic responses that keep me dangling. A tired question I realize, but does anyone have a suggestion or an "in"? Thanks!

Are you an owner? The tours typically need to be arranged through your dealer. They submit your VIN number and dates you are available to Ferrari of North America and FNA books the tour for you.

I was there May 31st, after the Monaco Grand Prix. The tour was very cool! We had 6 people on our tour. Stayed at Planet Hotel (across the street from the factory and the Cavallino Restaurant. the Ferrari Store is in the hotel, and Fiorano and the Galleria Museum are a short walk away.

    Good luck!

Factory is closed during month of August (so is most of Italy!)

We've been to the factory many times - thru our dealer (free 2 +/- hour tour); F1 Test Day and the very nice paid Owner's Tour.

Enjoy whenever you get there. Oop's just saw in your profile you aren't an owner, sorry but the factory is available to Ferrari Owners - you must provide your VIN # when submitting your request.

i ended up dealing directly with fna. had to fax them a copy of my title and they made it happen. i had to give them 2 alternate dates and they fed exed back to me the letter to get me in. btw, i got the first date that i wanted. i agree with everyone that it was very much worth the journey. also you may luck out and get to see something going on at the test track. be sure to do homework to locate the viewing places. one of the early FORZA issues told exactly how to find the viewing places.

    My post #3

You should go to San Marino and the Maranello Rosso Museum too - DEFINITELY worth the short drive from Maranello. Been there many times and each time is just as good as the first! - same with the Galleria.

Looks like Andrew read this before me and gave you the website - sorry! Thanks Andrew!! The museum is on the way into San Marino - it will be on your left, a hillside of old fighter aircraft will be on your right. If you've enter the gate into San Marino, you've gone to far. If you want to venture away from the normal restaurants in Maranello - i.e Il Cavallino and Montana - go out of town about 15 km or so - go past the Maranello Cafe then keep on going (beautiful countryside) - restaurant is on your left - La Noce - very, very nice - hope you speak some Italian! Order the Chef's recommendation and you won't be sorry - it was about 60 Euro per person but definitely worth it.

Take a side excursion into Imola and go to the track - the gift shop is open and one time we watched a group of 360's on the track - it's neat to stroll thru the park and be there during non-F1 time - it's a short walk to the Senna memorial. There's a really neat restaurant we stopped at in April after the F1 race. Take the "back road" from Imola to Bologna - there's a roundabout and then off to the right was a very non-descript sign for a restaurant - going down that road you wonder where the heck you are headed but alas an excellent place to eat overlooking an enormous pond. Don't remember the name but if it helps, the MotoGP guys frequent it.

As you come into Maranello, just past the roundabout and just beyond Montana (off to your right) there's an opening in the fence if there's anything going on at the track. You can just pull over and park. You can also continue past the Galleria then to the right to the main track entrance. To get to the main factory entrance, turn left before the Ferrari Store (an Alfa dealer on left side as I recall), follow the road to a roundabout with a large horse statue - you'll see the wind tunnel then the factory entrance. The Planet is very nice (stayed there before) and if you're going to be there for more than one night and wish to save a few Euro, try the Best Western Domus (that's where we stay).

Saw your 456 on the other thread - nice car!

    Have fun!

    Carol

Very good description, but I think you are wrong about the Maranello Rosso Museum. I'm pretty sure it's on your right when going into San Marino, been there myself, but it is some years ago, so you might be right.

I would like to go on a tour here in the next year...and I am kind of blind as to go about doing so....the only option I know and have is to talk to an owner of a dealership I know, is there any other tactical things i should consider?

If you did a search on factory tour you would understand that it is primarily reserved for car owners - however no doubt your excellent contacts will be able to fix it for you !
