The confirmation I received for the factory tour states that we need to be at the Industrial department reception area 10 minutes prior to the tour. We're at the Planet Hotel "across the street", or so they say. How long will it take us to walk from the Planet Hotel to the Industrial Department reception area. We're meeting a cousin from Torino and want to let him know when he needs to meet us in the Hotel Lobby - He's planning to drive down from Torino that day and I'd like to let him know ahead of time. Many thanks.

View of the factory entrance from our balcony in the Planet Hotel.
Like Jonathan says, it really is across the street.

    Enjoy your tour.

Tell the guy to be in the hotel lobby a half hour early. They hate it if you're late.

Jonathan, Simon, SrfCity - Thank you - appreciate the information. Glad to hear the hotel is really across the street. Reminded me of the opening of the Brooklyn Marriott. They advertised it as a New York City Hotel - and it is, but one helluva walk to Times Square.

So is the Industrial Dept Reception area at the front gate? Or is that another hike we will have to allow time for?

The reception for the factory tours is the building on the right (behind the Cavallino sign) in Simon's picture.

Did you set the tour up through your dealer? Can you share some details as I am planning a trip to Prancing Pony Mecca in February.

Yes, through Ferrari of New England in my case. (I did not buy my car from them, bought it privately). FNE sent me an application and I forwarded that to Ferrari North America along with a copy of my title ( or registration). Prompt email responses from all. Very easy.

    Thank you Jonathan - Perfect!

Is it true that kids under 16 are not allowed to take the tour? Some sort of Italian law............

That's what we were told. Don't know if it's law or just company policy.

From the confirmation letter..."It is important to note that young guests 16 through 19 must show identification with proof of age in order to gain entry to the Ferrari factory. Due to safety regulations no one under the age of 16 is allowed in the factory. Regrettably, the Ferrari factory must adhere strictly to this rule."

So age 16 and over is ok with proof of age.

Safety regulations are usually put in place to satisfy insurance company requirements.

As already mentioned, it's only about 30 paces from the factory.

The director at the Planet Hotel is a guy called "Franco", he's a top man. Mention that "Martin Owen" from the UK sends his regards (I was there 3 weeks ago).
The Ferrari Store is open until 9pm every day. I'm not sure what time the Galleria Ferrari is open until.

    Enjoy it!

Simon, I think I had the same room as you haha. I booked my tour thru the local dealer here in Singapore, and Planet Hotel thru Amex Travel. Enjoy the tour and your time in Maranello .. I can't wait to do it all over again.

Your dealer can also provide contact information (phone and e-mail) for Ferrari North America's Concierge Service with whom I dealt directly. They can also handle registration for driving classes, etc. Remember, the factory only has a few days a month for tours and will halt them completely on a whim, to re-tool, or when early (secret) cars are being assembled.

Must you be an owner or can you get a dealership to request a tour for you? I would be very sad if someone such as I, who is such an avid Ferrari fan and supporter, not be allowed to take the tour because I'm a non-owner at present time.
