I have in my hands official confirmation for a Ferrari Factory tour when in Italy next spring!!! I've been to Maranello before, but no tour (didn't own a Ferrari back then). Great little town, great museum, great restaurants, fun to watch cars at the Fiorano track (from the fence at the side of the road). Stood by the factory gates and watched test drivers take new cars out for test drives (what a GREAT job!!). But THIS time, it will be INSIDE the gates!

    How cool is that!

Congrats--it is an excellent experience. I wouldn't go back to that region of Italy and not do it again.

That region of Italy is a little on the industrial side, but I would do the tour again in a heartbeat, it was frickin awesome!!!

I'm going to be in Italy around the middle of May. How do you go about getting tickets for a factory tour? Thanks RDS

Just go see your local Ferrari dealer and they will set it up for you. The only catch is that you have to already own one or have one on order.

Two ways to go about it.

Contact your dealer. They can arrange a tour through Ferrari North America. No cost for the this tour.

Visit the Ferrari Owners Site online. The factory periodically offers tours through that site. They cost something on the order of 600+ Euros and consist of tours of the factory, the Fiorano test track, Gallleria Ferrari museum plus a cocktail party, lunch and dinner as well as one night in a hotel in Maranello. Very much worth it IOHO.

    Hope this helps.

We'll be at Imola and Spa AGAIN - Monza doesn't work well with my work schedule and school! We have a free factory tour sked on Thursday prior to the Imola race.

Re Spa: We've been sitting at ***nes (Silver 8) for several times but decided to make a change this year and got our tickets at Puhon (Silver 6). We got them right after we came back last year and definitely at a very good price. If you haven't been to Spa, wear comfortable shoes for long walks, be prepared for cool weather, fog, mist or rain. This year they revamped several of the seating areas and they are supposed to have a cover over them. Spa has to be by far our most favorite course.

I have done both. If you are going to the trouble of getting yourself to Italy the owners site tour is the only way to go. They don't show you nearly as much on the free tour. Attached are some photos from the owners site tour. Bonus points to those who can pick me out (hint: I was the only American/non 50+ year-old on the tour).

Are you going to the San Marino GP and taking the tour prior to the race? We are on the sked for the tour on 21 April.

Recognized your photos - the group one is used on the F1 Test Day on the owner's site - now comes my question to you . . . was that tour you took a owner factory tour or the F1 Test Day tour? Our "Owner Site" Tour visited Fiorano during the evening and although there were F1 cars in the bay, no one was working. We did, however, get a "bus" lap of the track complete with narration! Recognized Enzo's home/office as well as the interior shots along the assembly line. That's interesting that you were the only American on your tour, concidentally, on the Owner's Site Tour we took this past October 12 & 13, we were the ONLY Americans!!

Actually for us going to and from Italy wasn't all that bad. DL from DFW->ATL->MSP (Milan) or DL from DFW->JFK->CDG (Paris)->BLQ (Bologna).

Are we having fun with all of this or what!?!

    Hi Carol!

Your question brings up a bit of a story. The tour I was a participant on was the first factory tour offered (Nov. '03) by the owners site. There was some doubt as to whether on-going demand existed for pay tours so they were trying to impress. The result was fantastic access for the group and myself. We had dinner at the Montana Restaurant with Stevenson the new design boss. While touring Fiorano they let us go through the old farm house in the center of the track. I even got to sit behind the desk in Enzo's office and see Schumacher's kitchen and training room upstairs.

While at Fiorano they were testing several of the F1 cars that were to be sold through the new Corse Clienti department. Andrea Bertolini was also running tests on the FIA 360 GT car. The volume of sound and the force of the air as the cars went by while standing on the side of the track was amazing. The speed at which the F1 cars circulate the track is in another league from anything else.

I was fortunate to get the photos of the group inside the factory. They do not allow you to take your camera inside, but there was someone taking photos of us for promotional use on the owners site. The guide was kind enough to email them to me later. She also set me up with a personal tour of the Maserati factory the day before the Ferrari tour. Finally, I was even mentioned me in the article on the website. Like I said earlier, the owners site tour is way better than the free tour!

Thanks for the response and the informative post about the first factory tour offered via the owner's site. Congratulations for being one of the first!! We knew that cameras are a no-no but obviously weren't even gonna ask about the photos. It does make sense from a marketing standpoint to have taken them on your tour. It appears that things have changed somewhat from your first ever tour to the one we took 11 months later. We also had dinner at Montana - at our table was the tour guide (Gemma) and the Marketing Director (sorry but I forgot his name, nevertheless a very nice person also).

Our free tour is this April prior to Imola. The owners site tour we were on had 20ish people and the cost was 624,00 EUR for both of us. I hope they will continue with these tours as we would like to go back in October for it again.

I did the free tour in '98. Gemma Zubiani was the guide in '03 also. Very nice person!
