Got the car and insurance squared away(thanks to FarmerDave's sage advice). Now time to post some pics! The car is a brand new 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe. Athens Blue, 6sp manual tranny, Brembo Brakes (60mph-0 in 111ft not bad for a luxury coupe!) I drove around the French Quarter this afternoon trying to locate some decent backdrops for pics. Humor my less than stellar picture taking ability! Pics #2 and #3 were taken on Bourbon St...for some reason driving down Bourbon was A LOT more fun duing the French Quarter Classic, things that make you go hmmmm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice! For some reason during that whole thread I was thinking of the sedan... but that's looking good. I don't remember where, but I've seen clips of some great aftermarket exhausts for that car - and there's a supercharger for it isn't there (Greddy?)? But I don't mean to be one of those 'not good enough' people. It's great - trading must be treating you very well!
Aftermarket exhaust will be the first thing to go on the car. The stock exhaust is very tame. Thinking of going with Nismo exhaust. As for doing any forced intake work on the car, I would rather save the money for my Ferrari! What, no TYPE R stickers????
Thanks, in person the color really looks a lot like TDF blue. Now where are those shields that Carbon put on his ride...
Congrats...we have a '03 6mt coupe that we got from presumably the same dealership (now called Ray Brandt). Who was your salesperson? Ours was Victoria Revels who is an awesome lady. It's a great car and the only complaint I have is the cost of the tires, but that's what it takes to keep it going.
infiniti really knocked the ball out of the park on the G35. i think it's a great looking car. and very distinctive. doody.
Keith, It was a Bobby Weintritt at Ray Brandt. My father has bought 3 cars from them, so me buying this one sorta makes me a legacy, lol. How much are the tires costing and how long are they lasting you? They seem kinda crappy to me considering you can bark the tires when shifting hard from 3rd to 4th. When I had a C5 vette I blew through the first set of tires after only 11,000 miles. Not cheap at $275 a pop! You recommend any other tires? Thinking of going with Bridgestones, gee, I wonder why?
Beautiful car and welcome to the Z/G family! The Nismo exhaust is nice. It sounds a little like stock under 3k RPM, but after that it's awesome! Ryalex, so far the only s/c kits for the Z/G are ATi, Vortech, and HKS. Greddy makes the TT kit
Beautiful car, good job. The Brembos are discontinued on the 2005 model so you got the good one. Enjoy!
Stillen also makes a roots supercharger kit, and Power Enterprise makes a Twin Turbo kit as well as APS Twin Turbo.
Congrats on choosing such a superb looking car !!! It's much nicer than it's 350ZX cousin. Enjoy.......
Yea, I forgot about the Stillen. It doesn't seem that popular since it produces the least amount of power, but it does have a warranty for your engine. The hood needs to be replaced though. The PE kit is alright, but I've heard of some problems (they don't really keep that many parts in stock). APS seems to be the best out right now and they're developing a single turbo kit, too (Turbonetics just came out with a single turbo kit a few months ago). I still haven't heard any new news for the SSR Engineering and JWT turbo kits, but I think they won't sell much anyways since the market is flooded with so many FI kits. Edit: There's also an Ultimate Racing TT kit, but I only know of one guy (in Saudi Arabia) with it.
Yeah, I never liked that feature of Stillen. Having to replace the hood is kinda poor. the market is very good for F.I. kits right now for the G/Z. And Top Secret made a 350Z single turbo kit. Nizpro also makes a Z TT kit, but it is priced over $20K, and really not for the average tuner. It made over 520whp/530wtq.
John, Through the dealership it was ~$1300 for the set. If I remember right the quote for Brisgestones was ~$1600, and nobody who drives the car has much use for the sportier tires (we're kind of boring in that way). We were just familiar with the tires and were happy with the wet performance that they provide. Are you a member of any New Orleans car clubs? -Keith-
I haven't really gotten to drive it in the rain yet, but its good to hear they are decent performers. Actually, I have been wanting it to rain so I can go practice some drifts in an empty area to see how balanced the car is on the edge. How many miles did you get out of that first set? As for clubs, I just hang with the one and only Ferrari club here. Although I am going to join the SCCA and take this for some real driving soon!
The tires were replaced at 30k miles, but as stated earlier the car is basically used as A to B transportation that looks good while doing it. There is an autocross this Saturday at Zepher Field (read here: http://forums.nolarides.com/index.php?showtopic=11010 ) if you want to see how it handles. I've never been to one, but I have friends that participate religiously. As for the Ferrari Club, I have only been to the public events for the FFQC. I'm a member of nolarides.com because of the friends I mentioned earlier. It's a lot of "ricer" people if you're somehow interested.
Wow, that's a beauty...hope you have fun driving it, and looking forward to updates on how the car handles at the limit.
Ok, then I figure I might get 18k out of them if I am lucky! For the FFQC 2003 I did the public events only as well. But this year I paid for the whole shabang and it was an entirely different experience! Im tellin' ya, do it next year if you can. It really is an amazing event inside and out. I am sure that I will do a couple autocrosses in the next couple of months. Feel like joining me? Im not into the 'ricer' fast-n-furious scene whatsoever and find it very annoying, but I am also not close-minded enough to shy away from meeting enthusiasts of all types. So if you say its fun I am more than willing to go see whats what. I'll go check out the site right now...
Some of you guys will find this funny. I called a friend and told him that I got a new car. He wanted to know what it was, but I told him he would just have to wait outside of his place for a couple minutes while I drive over. I pull up 3 minutes later and he has this pale look on his face. I go, "Jesus man, you don't like it??" He replies, "No, its not that, I like it a lot. Its just that 30 seconds ago a ratty white 96 basic Mustang on 20inch spinners came roaring around the corner and I thought for a split second that you might have gone out and done something completely ridiculous just because you have such a twisted sense of humor!!!" Im not THAT crazy!
John: Just turned 25K miles on my 03 G35 coupe. Black on black. New tires this week. Great car, I got more questions and looks on the Infiniti then my last 348! Super daily driver in my opinion. Congrats!
I wasn't exactly sure what it was and just wanted to see the cars, but now that I know some people (Dave was nice enough to take me around the track in his 328), it may change for next year. Sure thing, just let me know when There are a few different factions of the members, basically split up by geographic areas. I don't know much about the people on the south shore, but the guys on the north shore meet up somewhere and usually talk and sometimes go bowling or whatever limited activities are available around here. I believe the guy whose 350Z was used as the official camera car for FFQC is a member of nolarides
