    Hi, all.

While completing my 30k engine-out major service and upper engine rebuild for my 328 GTS, my mechanic, Enrico Tenni, of Valtellina Automobili, installed the Mille Miglia exhaust system. He consulted with Nick, from Nick's Forza Ferrari, and I am really pleased with the sound and additional kick in torque and HP. If you are interested in the sound clips, please let me know, and I will paste the link.

Just curious: why a rebuild at 30K? Is that why it was done "engine-out"? The normal 30K is engine-in...

    Hi, Mike.

Originally, I brought my car in for the major service, and Enrico noticed some coolant and oil leak. When working on the car he recommended that the engine be pulled out for thorough investigation. I took his recommendation, and I am glad that I did because I also had air leaks that cause high temperatures in the valve and head areas, which created heavy oxidation. When I got the car back, it drove better than new; for me, it was worth the investment.

The reason: eroded seals due to infrequent driving -- I treated her like a garage queen, and it damaged the engine.

    Hi, Mike.

Thanks, so much, for the compliment; I'm really happy with the Mille Miglia Exhaust setup.

I am using my original OEM cat. I will be removing the cat in the next couple of weeks when I return to San Francisco. I will be installing a Cheater Pipe that will have the 02 sensor and thermal coupler hook-ups built in to the Cheater Pipe.

    Hi, reddot.

Thanks for the compliment. If you go to Nick's website, you can listen to the sound clips for your 360 running the Mille Miglia exhaust system. You might also want to look into the Capristo.

A few of my acquaintances have the Capristo on their 355s and 360s, and they sound amazing!

I don't remember Nick's URL, but you can get to him through my URL: http://www.AlfonsoFaustino.com. Just scroll down all the other stuff to the Ferrari Enthusiast section, and you will see his link.

Yes, it did take a lot of time documenting my 328 gts; when I return to SF, I will document the other cars. Thanks for acknowledging the work I put into my Ferrari page -- fortunately, I have a developer and a writer that does the work for me.

Thanks for the information. I have been considering changing out the stock exhaust on my 328.. Your post really helps in the decision process. If it wouldn't be to much of a problem would you mind posting sound clips when the test pipe is installed? I have thought about just putting on a test pipe & forego getting an entire system, but now I like the sound of the MM exhaust! But would love to hear it without the cat & just the test pipe

Yes, Mike. I will send you sound clips of the Cheater Pipe installed to my system. I'm glad my posting helps. I've been getting lots of PMs regarding my exhaust system and my experiences with my 328 gts. Good luck with your search.

    Hi, Gary.

Thanks for the compliment -- my girlfriend thinks I'm wacko, and laughs at me all the time about it. I guess she is jealous that I pay so much attention to my other girlfriend, Madellena. When I get some time and return to SF, I will post the service activities for my other cars. Thanks, again!

I had a test pipe on my 328 when I got it, but was bothered by the smells. I put on a Hyperflow cat from Ricambi, and got rid of the smells without giving up anything in performance. You may want to consider going that way.

Can I ask how much the MM exhaust for the 328 cost?

    Hi, CharlieL.

I am considering the removal of the cat and putting on the cheater pipe; however, after reading your statement, I am now considering the Hyperflow cat -- will this cat still allow me to pass the California smog test, or do I have to remove the Hyperflow and replace the OEM cat for smog testing?

Rico, at Valtellina Automobili, got the Mille Miglia exhaust for me at $2245.

Sorry for the delay in responding - I did not see the post. The Hyperflow cat easily allows passage of the Connecticut emissions test. I would expect that it would work just fine for CA as well.

Thanks, Charlie. No worries about the delay in responding -- well all have lives outside of FerrariChat.com. I appreciated the response. I will be getting the cat off this week, Thursday, 21-December-06. I am going to first run the Cheater Pipe that accomodates the thermal coupler and O2 sensor. Once that is complete, I will do a sound clip and/or video clip and send it to you for your review and consideration, per your request.

A person noted, in this thread, the possibility of a foul smell as a result of the removal of the cat; if I experience such an odor, I will then order the hyper-flow cat. Hopefully, it will pass the smog test in California, as it does in your neck of the woods -- Connecticut.

    I will keep you posted.

Absolutely, buckminster! I drive her two or three times a week and on weekends -- weather permitting; no more garage queen status for my Ferraris. In fact, I just got back from driving her today, 18-December-06. Nice sunny day in San Francisco.

alfonso did you drive down california street in the financial district of sf at around 2pm yesterday? if that was you i gotta let you know that your car sounds wicked with that mille miglia exhaust and your car looks great. i was in sf yesterday visiting a buddy of mine. i was on california and front street and i heard this wonderful racing engine sound echoing off the buildings. shortly i saw a beautiful 328 drive by and i saw in your profile and website that you spend time in san francisco so i had a hunch that might be you because no 328 would sound like what i heard without some exhaust modifications. i was on the corner and three chicks were also on the corner. when you drove by i heard one of the chicks ask her friends "wow what kind of car is that?" being the opportunist that i am i told them it was a classic ferrari and that conversation changed to another conversation which changed to an exchange of phone numbers which resulted in a hook up at aqua for drinks. if it was you thanks for the drive by if it wasn't then i thank the 328 driver for driving by that day! lemme know!

All this exhaust info has me thinking about what to do next....

I've got a bunch of 30k maintenance planned for the winter, but am beginning to ponder the exhaust/cat upgrade. So what are y'all thinking? A Hyperflow cat with a MM exhaust?

From the sound clips, it certainly has a nice sound to it.

Thanks in advance & Merry Christmas.

dude my mechanic placed an order for me for the mm for my 328 and i'm still on the fence with my 360 because i'm going to sell it in search for my f50 if i was going to keep it i would get the mm for it as well. all i know is when i heard alfonso faustino's (aka asfjr) car drive by (i'm thinking that was his car) it sounded friggin incredible and i heard him over a block away but then again my ears are auto tuned for the ferrari and lamborghini sounds. i don't know too much about the hyper flow cat so i did not order one and my mechanic is going to remove my cat anyway and replace the oem cat when i get my car smog checked. keep us posted with your progress and post sound clips when you get it installed. might want to ping alfonso for the specifics if you visit his website: http://www.alfonsofaustino.com he also has a 30k major done plus the upper engine rebuild. good luck and merry christmas blmjumper.

    reddot,

cool, thank you for the link....I just thought the 328 wasn't being all it could be with a stock exhale....

I've got my CV boot rebuild kit waiting for me when I get home....did the accessory belts in the fall....the timing belts don't intimidate me, but I've never tangled with valve adjustments...the rest will just be an exercise in tactile nimblicity and creative socket extentionicity...

I'll post/pm as I go along, esp. with the exhaust plans....

Merry Christmas and a Happy Ferrari Year!!
