Below are some pics from the track on Saturday. We had a great time as spectators, but I really wish I had driven the track myself. My good friend John V. with the yellow Dino (FLY YELLOW) took some arbitrary and unofficial lap taps of some cars on the new 2 mile circuit at Palm Beach International Raceway. Keep in mind there were limitations on passing to only straights, and there were various calibers of drivers out there. Not much rubber down on the track yet ,so people out there reported it to be slippery. The red 996 GT2 and black 996 GT3 below were lapping in the neighborhood of 1:45. These numbers were equaled at least by the yellow Lotus (some of you may even recognize the driver). I was rather unimpressed with the guy in the black (and blue-taped) GT-R which was only lapping 1:40 despite some good straight line speed. The blue metallic Scuderia was lapping 1:30-1:32 area. We clocked the Radicals around 1:26. Several 360 Challenge cars out there seemed to be lapping in the range of the Radicals... For what it's worth.

It's going to be really nice when everything's complete. Incidentally, there is another open, night event there in 2 weeks ($295) through Hooked on Driving. Some of us are looking into participating. More info below:

    Enjoy.

I hate to pick a fight but WTF.
996s are a Dime a Dozend. 997, Dime a Dozend, Radicals, where exactly is the 'of special interest' on Radicals?
Pictures tell a thousand words. This looks like the meeting of the Porsche Club of America, which brings about the same amount of Ferraris.
    Lotus Elise of 'special interest'?

Again in a constructive critisimn. If you allow all those cars to run then open it up to all cars that want to register and are FCA members. I mean really, I would have used one day to run the Miata so I get some seat time in before he race next weekend. About as special as the Lotus or the 996. Probably the same production numbers as well. Millions...

Totally unfair, that all cars are not able to participate! The pictures tell the true story.

As this was the first event on the new track, it was very green - a bit slippery.

Look like a great time. What's up with the Porsche, the radical, the Lotus, and the Nissan. I was told it was a Ferrari event only! Strange! It must of been a small turn out.
Maranello Madness is a lot of fun. Great event. Sorry I missed it the T-shirts are awesome. I like the artwork for the event too.

Guys, chill out.......... I think Joe took pictures and posted the things that were 'different' at the Ferrari event. When you're constantly around F-cars, you loose track of them and other cars stand out. The vast majority of cars there were Ferrari's.

I understand your call to calm just understand it is about the same as you telling people "exotics only" to the Toy Rally and turn down (rightfully so, I may add) the guy with the M3, the S2000s and the souped up Ricers. Then the pictures show and there are Toyota Supras in the picture. How should the guy with the M3 feel. Yes, he will be peed and yes he has every right to.

And let me be clear, I understand that this was and is not Bob's call.

    IMO;
a FCA event should be exactly that - Ferari's only. Otherwise you sign up to be a FCA member and then show up with another car brand. If I wanted to run with other cars I would go to a Chin event. IMHO

I understand and appreciate what you're saying. To be clear, any non-exotics at the Toy Rally may involve people who provide support and effort towards the event, not just people who want to show up. That said, I can't personally confirm or deny the affiliations of the people with non-Ferrari's (other than myself) that attended MM, but, perhaps there are other circumstances. Perhaps even something as simple as being an FCA member vs a non-member plays out in the determination of who can bring what.

I may be completely wrong on this, but I believe if you (or anyone else) were an FCA member who supported and participated in their other events, and you called Bob, David, or Steve to see if you could bring a non-Ferrari to MM, I bet there's a good chance that they would say 'yes', within reason. If, instead, it's someone who doesn't support or participate in the FCA, my guess is that the outcome may be different.

People should know that planning an event is a thankless job, and despite everyone's best efforts, it's impossible to please everyone. If someone feels they can do better, and wants to plan an event of 'everything and everyone is welcome, costs nothing, has no commercial value, wear what you want, drive what you want, your favorite food will be served, plenty of parking, comfortable seating, celebrities will be there, convenient location, start and end time fits perfectly into your schedule, t-shirts exactly as you want will be handed out, yada, yada, yada......and promises that everyone will be happy', please let me know since I would be glad to attend. If not, deal with what's offered as best as you can, and be thankful that there are others that take the time to do their best...........

Boy, I wonder who that was....LOL
Could not have been the FCA president. I mean how would you explain to your constituance that the Supra is an exotic or of interest to any member of the FCA.
