I just noticed this car for sale on EBay. Should be worth more than a normal 308 with the history. I'm sure they used several cars in the shooting of the series as I'm sure there are many experts here on FC who can contribute with details. I'd buy if I could but I can't. Sale ends in four days.

Who said that? They used a couple of QV's for five years.

Since this has stirred up my nostalgia, I just re-watched the final episode of Magnum, "Resolutions," which I taped when it first aired. The car is in a half dozen scenes, and is always clearly a 308. By the wheel / tire appearance, it has 16" wheels.

I just posted that I thought the Ferrari was not in that last episode. It has been a while since I watched it.

    My other post:

If you did it wasn't Magnum's car. I actually hate to admit this on a public forum but I was a REALLY big fan of the show and actually have every episode taped. Not just the reruns but the actual original broadcast (most on Beta tapes!).
I do not even think the final episode even showed the Ferrari. I was in high school when the 328 series started and I remember wondering back then why they never used one on the show. They didn't mind updating the 308 series as needed (carb, 2V, 4V) and I kept waiting for the 328 but one never appeared.
I actually have the final show on VHS and at the end of the show is where I taped all the news broadcasts on Enzo Ferrari's death. I got all three networks, one local station and even a clip from CNN.
I bet I may be the only idiot on this site who would have all that still after all these years.

If anybody wants a copy of this stuff, just send me a tape and I will dub it for you. No charge - I'll do it just for the fun of it.

Anyway, I assure you, no 328's.

A good 308 QV rule of thumb: if the "A" pillars are painted the same color as the rest of the car, it has 16 inch wheels. If the "A" pillars are black, it has the metric wheels.

I watched the openening of a Magnum show last week, where there was a Euro 308 shown. In the show, it was a non-Euro.

It's ok Doc, no shame in that at all. If it helps, I was a HUGE "Miami Vice" fan with the fast cars & modern music -- Phill Collins "In The Air Tonight" playing while the black Daytona cruises thru the Miami city at night...w...h...o...a!

Spoken like a true enthusiast :)

there was an episode where a blond in a green 328 pulled up to the house and Magnum gave it a once over while talking to Higgens.

I can remember my wedding anniversary but I can remember this factoid.

you know i liked both shows miami vice and Magmum PI, a lot. I have seen every episode of each most likely more than once.

Being a ferrari fan I wonder how many people on here, are ferrari fans because they saw them on these shows?

I am thinking to myself, would I really know or want or have bought a ferrari had I not seen them for 8 years straight on TV?

I bought my 308's because of the show. It is the reason why I like Ferrari so much.

There was an episode with a green 308 with a blond guy. It was Robin's nephew or something like that but believe it or not that was a 308 too.

My first glimpse of a Ferrari was the 308 on Magnum. I was 17. It was my fantasy car ever since.

Well, I finally got one last November, but it sure wasn't the car I thought it would be: I ended up with a 1977 308 GTB carb car, red/black--new paint-26,000 miles. Looks fantastic!

I ALWAYS thought I'd do the red/tan GTS QV thing--but when I came accross this car--I knew it was the one. 1977 cars are plenty fast--more so than other 4-valve cars I've driven....... I love the tighter body too.....!

Thanks, Magnum! Yes, I taped them all too--still have the tapes!
I'm starting my Magnum DVD collection.......!

Tommy- I may contact you re: the Enzo Ferrari death news reports. I'd love to have those on tape........

They used the 85 QV all throughout "Resolutions". This is one of the only episodes where you see the front bonnet opened and Magnum puts in his Naval Officers Uniform over the spare tire.

I saw Selleck interviewed recently and he said that a lot of people are claiming to own cars once used on the show. He said there were two new cars every two years. One was a show car and the other was the stunt car. He said if you buy one, make sure you get the show car.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I was introduced to Ferrari by Magnum PI. I was a kid when the show came out in re-runs on A&E. I bought a 308 because of the show. I also absolutely love Miami Vice. I have a 91 Testarossa....again because of the show. When people ask me about the car....I say....everytime I jump out, I want to yell "Freeze...Miami Vice!
I do prefer the very extroverted look of the TR compared to the 308 but...I do miss the 308 gear box whine and the instrument pod shape.

    Shamile

    Freeze...Miami Vice!

All you people with decades old video tape may want to consider transferring the recordings to DVD as magnetic tape seriously degrades over time. Do it or lose it!
