Mondial 3.2 wheels specifications

Did the 3.2 ever come from the factory with TRX ?

I'm sure they must be the same wheel dimensions anyway as none of the 8 cylinder cars really changed til the ABS era

 

All Mondial wheels have the same offsets from the 8 through the t and all of the wheels are interchangeable (e.g. "t" wheels will fit on a 8, 3.0QV or 3.2). I am not near my notes, but I seem to remember 55mm or so.

 

I believe the 3.2 came with the TRX tires until late '86. (Mine did.) The '87 cars had 16" wheels, and then that was the end of the metric wheels. I think some late '86 Mondials might also have had 16" wheels, and that the intro of the 16" wheels came before ABS - not right along with it.

Also, T Rutlands told me that Mondial T wheels wouldn't be an exact fit on a 3.2, so I searched for '87 or '88 3.2 16" wheels until I finally found some from a fellow F-chatter. Maybe T Rutlands was incorrect or I misunderstood them, as I tend not to doubt SNJ5's knowledge of the Mondial. However, you might want to make sure before you purchase anything. (If that was why you were inquiring.) Maybe SNJ5 or someone can dig up the technical data to answer your question more definitively.

 

This is my understanding as well as far as TRX tires on Mondials.

As far as the wheels, I know that the t and 3.2 had different part numbers, which doesn't mean much at Ferrari, but I believe the same specification, or very very close. I know the tires, widths and bolt circle were exactly the same, and I have seen t wheels on earlier Mondials.
I could be wrong, but this is what I've found and been told - certainly worth double checking, though. Anybody out there know or measured?

 

Curiously, my 1988 ABS-equipped Coupe came with TRXs, according to the sticker on the windshield. Although it’s a Middle Eastern spec car that doesn’t explain why Ferrari would offer an outdated and essentially discontinued tire size this late in the decade. Maybe it was a special order.

I believe TRX tires were standard on Mondials in 1986 and became an option in 1987 (?).

T Rutlands are nice fellas but definitely not the last word on these cars if you know what I mean. Now, if Daniel at Ricambi told me square wheels would work on my car, I would probably believe him because my experience has shown that he really knows his stuff. (Just my .02)
