I would like to put conditioner on my leather to keep it supple, in my Porsche and Lexus I used both Maguire’s and Mothers leather conditioner, both of these products worked but they changed the smell in the car from a nice leather smell to a chemical smell. I would like to avoid this in the 355 as I really love the way it smells currently.

What products do you use and do they affect the smell of your interior?

Leatherique, great stuff but a bit messy to use. It did wonders for my car when I first got it. Interior is back to new condition with a minimum of fuss. The scent of the car it unchanged...........

I use Autoglym which is made in England.

They use it on the Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin etc etc.

    Good stuff and very happy.

Detailing for just over 20 years,
I used to solely utilize Lexol products. My wife showed me about 15 years ago Murphy's Oil soap. Using 1 ounce in a 30 ounce spray bottle. She used this to clean her leather tack (saddles, briddles, etc) The price of a good saddle can cripple you sometimes.
I tell you that not only is it a hell of alot cheaper than anybody elses product, but does an immaculate job. There are no concerns here with staining, or removing dye. There is no after scent, and the surface is virgin. Do not oversaturate, as a brief shot from the sprayer, followed by gentle agitation with a soft bristled brush, and removel with a terry cloth towel will leave a smile on your face every time.
Follow with the leather conditioner of choice, and for this I do use lexol conditioner. There are several suitable alternatives however.

Connolly Hide Cream is amazing! Bentley dealers put it on their trade-ins, and I believe Ferrari uses Connolly leather, at least on some models. I've heard of waxy build-up, but if you use it properly (sparingly) as I have, the leather smell is unaffected with no weird residues. My leather is like brand new, literally. I've tried Lexol, I've tried Maguire's, but as far as a good maintenance product for leather already in good condition, connolly is the best IMO.

Thank you to everyone for your replies.
I use Autoglym products for my exterior detailing and they are excellent, i was not aware that they have a leather product available, i will get my supplier to find out about it for me. I also like the sound of connelly and Leatherique products, although i will have to do some digging to see if they are available in New Zealand.

I have just spent the best part of 6 hours detailing the exterior of the car, now its time to get the inside how i want it.

Agreed, very messy. I really like Leatherique for the dash on the 355 though. I treat mine at least three times per year, as the dash leather is known to dry out, shrink and crack. At 10+ years, my dash looks great. I apply generously with a small sponge or towel, and leave it on for several hours. I then reapply. After a total of 24 hours or so, I remove whatever is left (most has soaked into the leather) with a clean towel, slightly dampened with hot water.

For the rest of the car I use Griot's Leather Care. Works well, not as messy and leaves a nice leather smell.

I like Griot's stuff but haven't used their Leather Care yet. Does it change the color (darken) beige leather?

I like the griot leather care. Makes the car smell new and does a decent job of cleaning the tan leather. I put it on thick and let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then buff it with a terry cloth towel. Dan from Ricambi got me clued in to it at last year's Cavallino track day.

I decided that since i own most of the autoglym range i may as well stick to this company, i have been super impressed with there range of exterior products that i was certain the leather care products would suit my needs.

Well i am happy to report that after 24hrs the natural smell of the leather has returned and the leather looks 100x better, i had not realised how dry the leather was until i used the conditioner on it, the smell of the conditioner overwhelmed the natural leather smell for a while and i almost regretted using it, but the interior needed to be conditioned so what choice did i really have, anyway the car looks and smells fantastic and i even had it out for over 200kms today to make sure the leather was conditioned correctly (that's the best excuse i could come up with :) )

Thanks for all the input people. :)
