Chris, based on pics from previous years, I was really hoping to see the MC-12 AND an FXX. Still one out of two isn't that bad.

And Chris Dobbs, your right...the light was playing havoc with my pics as well. I had to do some post processing to make some others look somewhat presentable.

BTW, how far is the drive from NoVA to the Pocono Event? Cars I want to see in person would be the MC-12, Bugatti Veyron, any Spyker, 288 GTO, and FXX.. almost everything else I have seen :) But of course I never mind to see them again and again and again!

When you're next up here, let me know and i'll get you a ride in a 288 GTO (assuming the owner is avalible that day)

I'm not sure how far Pocono is from NoVA, try to mapquest it to get a rough idea

Btw, the Spykers weren't that great. They look cool but were really slow on the track

I have driven the Enzo and F40 about 30 ft each at 5mph lol. A 288GTO would be nice to add to the list!

    Really great pics!

Can anyone tell me how that Countach and 308's did on the track? Did the Countach hold it's own?

    ^^^

The countachs were pretty sloppy and easy to overtake...but they seem to be one of the hardest cars to drive fast and turn at ALL as they are just so damn wide and have NO view anywhere...the 308s were slow but handled pretty decently... but its not like they are rocket ships anyhow...

The problem with events like this though as the value of these cars are significently higher than say your local PCA trackday and some of the drivers just dont want to take ANY chances....and I cant blame em! I was only a couple of feet from more than a handful of 300k cars and some of them just dont feel comfortable with that (you find this activity in higher groups of ANY association). It was an absolute blast though!

    Hey Chris,

I've haven't had the opportunity to shoot at the track as of yet. What setup were you using? I'm curious about asa/fstop/shutter speed and on what camera and lens setup.

    cheers

    ken

Camera was a D70 with a sigma 70-300 lens. I used various lengths for different pics. I was on shutter priority with the shutter speed bettwen 1/80 and 1/200 depending on the pic i wanted. Most of the action shots were taken at 1/125. ISO was 200. All shot in RAW and then i fixed the colours post processing. Top pic is straight from the camera without any pp, 2nd is with pp.

Thanks for the info! I've never heard of how Countachs were on the track. I heard complaints of truck like handling on the street, but it's probably different at a track.

thanks for the info. That gives me some ideas. As far as the pp, I like the original photo better. The greens are a bit muted but with the pp image, it seems to be oversaturated. The hood of the ferrari has started to turn pink and the blues have overtaken the blacks on the Contach. Just my opinion. Besides, these are great action shots.

    thanks
