Anyone ever replaced a throttle cable on a 308 ?

Are they a major pain ?
How much do they run ?

I noticed today that mine is frayed (over half way through)
    at the connection !! :(

Something like $65 or so from T. Rutlands. Not too bad to do, pull the access panels off the underside of the car and it slides into the tube the old one came out of. There's some more info in some of the archives somewhere, but it's not too hard for a below-average mechanic such as myself once you know about pulling the panels off the bottom of the car.

Sounds like getting the car up high enough to lay under it and have room to fix it in the driveway is probably the toughest part

Could you give a little more on removing the panels...just some brief info. I have the same problem with my cable. Thanks.

As I recall there were 1 or 2 rubber plugs that just needed to be popped out with your fingers and then there was a plate under the pedal assy that just unbolted. Buy the cable and get under there and it'll all come easily! :)

    One recommendation.
Remove the pedal assembly, clean up the pivot of all the accumulated dirt etc.
You will probably have to adjust the cable and WOT. with a little help from another body.
    Good luck

What i have noticed is that my cables are seeing their 'end life' right about now. The car is 20 years old and 63k miles. Have replaced the clutch, boot release, and other cables. i have a feeling others may be in the same boat as their cables are about due for replacing because of age.

Also, i THINK in these old cars Ferrari used basic steel cables versus newer, less prone to rust modern cables.
