actually, "all the smiles have everything to do with driving a carbed boxer..." was my failed attempt to get the thread back on topic... oh well... this is auusie Fchat lets go and harrass the seppos'
leave the poor buggered boxers bleedin' ring out of it... oops, what has that got to do with my Boxer
Ring MC at the other end of your street Phil. If he can get a McLunken registered, I'm sure he knows who/how to get your car in to the land of Oz.
He knows all the car stuff, as do Crown Customs Services (that advertise in the club mag and are EXCELLENT by the way), but it's my status as a pommie passport holder with Aussie residency that I want to clear up.... it may affect the taxation... hopefully in my favour, as an "immigrant/emmigrant"
Customs are a pack of _ _ _ _ (insert best known expletive you know) They use a car value book based on unrealistic prices here in Oz and then if you are an Aussie returning home with the car they deduct a certain percentage for the first year you lived overseas with the car and then a hugely reduced % for each year after that. My documentation relating to the purchase price was ignored as they stated they were using their figures to evaluate the cost of importing the car. If they use this formula for you it may be good but I doubt it, they will probably say you haven't lived OS with the car since becoming an Aussie , it always works in their favour **disclaimer*** this was in '91
680 = 65 KGM. SAme as the LM forces. This should never be done when the wheels are hot from driving. 680 NM will be when the car is cold. Never let anyone do up your wheels more than this when the car is hot. There is also an interesting thing written in the handbooks of F40's. The LM says no grease, metal on metal. The road car says grease. (love the italians). Total confusion.
I was going to make a go-kart track around my house. You know..........have the boys over, have a few beers and get out in the go-karts. Some of the neightbours didn't like the idea. Got the council involved, and gave me a lot of drama. So I changed the speed humps in the street while nobody was watching, instead, so that I could get the F40 out of my street.
