Talked to Jim, and he is without internet right now, but wanted to put the word out that CBS 11 is interviewing him this friday about the county jail and getting lost in the system. He was told it would be on the dinner hour broadcast, but it could be 5 , 6 or 10pm. Sends his best to everyone.

I just got a call from Jim & news 11 just finished an hour & a half of the interview with him, the segment is a CBS 11 exclusive story that will air Monday evening.

For some reason when I saw Phils post, I was picturing a darkened silhouette & a digitized voice to protect his identity.

I thought it was good segment too, but wish they would have hit the police hard.

Was he lost in the system because of the system or because the PD pulled some under handed stuff? From how I remember the story, there should be no less than 4 police officers and whoever involved at the jail that should be fired and put in jail themselves.

Maybe that's what they're going for? Sue system company and they prove it would have been manual intervention to protect themselves, then the **** hits the fan for the PD.

Dallas County: Three say faulty tracking system confined them too long

An inmate tracking system that lost track of some inmates at the Dallas County Jail when it was launched two years ago has resulted in a wrongful imprisonment lawsuit against the county.

Three inmates allege in the suit, filed in Dallas County District Court, that they were kept in the jail in early 2005 for longer than necessary because of a faulty computer system called the Adult Information System.

According to the lawsuit, Elizabeth Davis spent 35 days in the jail before the mistake was noticed; Billie Sue Byrd was lost in the AIS system for a week; and Ronald Weathers was unjustly imprisoned for 2 ½ weeks.

The plaintiffs also sued InfoIntegration Inc., the company that developed the AIS system for the county. The company was a small start-up company that bid on the $1.3 million contract just weeks after forming.

The company's president, Tonya Brennemen, declined to comment. The county's legal adviser could not be reached for comment, and one county commissioner, John Wiley Price, said he hadn't seen the lawsuit.

The county launched AIS in January 2005, but the system failed to transfer information to the county's old computer system that the courts still used to determine who was in jail and what cases needed to be scheduled.

As a result, in at least 40 cases inmates were in jail for too long even though their cases were dismissed or they posted bail.

The suit alleges that InfoIntegration was negligent in designing and implementing the $9 million AIS program it developed. It says Dallas County was aware of problems with AIS but continued using it.

Dallas County violated the plaintiffs' civil rights by "imprisoning them without just cause," the suit said.

Ms. Davis was jailed in late December 2004 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, but a grand jury declined to indict her nearly a month later. At that point, she should have been released, but AIS didn't allow the Sheriff's Department to communicate with the district clerk's office about releasing the warrant holding her, according to the lawsuit.

She was released in late March only after getting word to her attorney that she was still in jail.

She filed a tort claim against the county for $100,000 in 2005. She has said she lost her job and apartment while in jail and was exposed to inmates with tuberculosis.

Ms. Byrd was arrested on a warrant and was lost in the AIS system for eight days in February, the suit said.

She was denied "basic hygiene materials" while in jail, according to the lawsuit.

Mr. Weathers was transferred from the Hutchins State Jail to the Dallas County jail system in late February for a probation violation warrant out of a Dallas County criminal court at law, the lawsuit said.

He allegedly was held for two weeks without being arraigned on the probation violation because AIS did not alert the court that issued the warrant that Mr. Weathers was already in custody.

Mr. Weathers also filed a $100,000 tort claim against the county.

The lawsuit also alleges that Mr. Weathers and Ms. Byrd were denied basic medical care while in the jail.

just heard from Denton county

ALL charges against me (creating a disturbance and resisting arrest) have been dropped. The DA says there is no validity to the charges and he will not proceed with any trial.

This really adds to my civil case. the reason i was in the jail in the first place was fabricated.

They will be interviewing me regarding my lawsuit against Dallas County and the computer company InfoIntergration and others.

Ernie and Jay broadcast from 10-3 so i don't know exactly what time i am on but the interview is suposed to be at 10:30am.
They also rebroadcast a best of segment on sunday afternoons...

PS after the charges were thrown out against me I went to Dallas to try and retrieve the bail money Gary Seale and Johnathan put up for me...
SHOCKING NEWS they couldn't find it in their computer system. Kind of like me... They are searching for the records I GAVE THEM Photocopies of my receipts...

Inmates held past release date due to computer problems

Nearly 40 inmates are being held past their release dates in Dallas County. Some for days, others lost for months. Due to problems in the Adult Information System, or AIS, an inmate tracking system built by Info-Integration, and Tonya Brenneman -- the President.

The command and control structure was at best very dysfunctional, said Brenneman.

Brenneman admits -- that was before the launch in 2005. She, under oath in a deposition, told lawyers her team wasn't ready, that they were rushed by county officials.

They said they were ready to go. In that meeting I told them they were not ready to go, said Brenneman.

Brenneman says she has proof. They sent some heated emails referencing they were ready, she said.

County Commissioner John Wiley Price says Brenneman is off base. That committee has never ever pushed anyone to launch before they were ready, said Commissioner Price.

Price admits he wasn't a fan of Brenneman's from the beginning. I probably didn't have a lot of confidence in the architect of the system, said Price. But he says the County didn't hurry her along.

But Brennamans story continues.

I told them I didn't think we tested it enough. They also mentioned at the time that they did not have the money or hours to be able to test the system and improve it, said Brennaman.

And if it failed, Brenneman understood the consequences.

due to confidentiality issues I can confirm this little factoid. Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle just fired one of the 2 officers who attacked me, This termination had NOTHING[b/] to do with my case but.....
