Hello All, I'm having trouble timing my wipers. They are the clapper style, and before I go too far, I want to confirm I have the proper arms and blades. Can anyone please give me the overall length of the arms and blades. Thanks, Steve
Steve, I'll measure the black Arman clappers on my type "E" Euro GT. I don't know if they are the same spec as the chrome ones on your car. It'll be about four hours before I can get to it; you'll likely have some response from your fellow "L" owners by then, but I'll send you the info anyway...for comparison. There was a thread, not too long ago, that listed the various blade lengths based on country of original delivery. I have a copy of the Bodywork Spare Parts Catalog 52/71, for use from car n. 02132, that shows the blades (by part #, not size) for specific markets. Does catalog 30/69 have similar info for the early cars? As for the timing, make sure that the blades are parked level & parallel with each other, with the pax side tangent to the windscreen rubber gasket. The driver's side will sit several inches above the pax side...kinda far up on the glass. I tried to reduce the distance/lower the driver's side for a little less cluttered look & they hit when operating. You can see that I have real short blades, too. Oh well. I'll be back with some measurements, Coop Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Steve, take a look in the thread by John Corbani "Dino Saga 080821 Sunny Afternoon" where I happened to post few pics of my 1969 black Dino 246GT #00508 Tipo L. If you take good look and compare mine against Coop's, they're not the same. I cannot guarantee that mine is original and same as yours but for your info, here's the measurements: arms' 41.5cm/ 16.5in. and blades' 38cm/ 15in. Hope this helps. w/ smiles Jimmy
Good Afternoon, Steve. A bit late, but here are the numbers: Arms are 16.5" from 'eye' to tip, blades are 13" from tip to tip. Both are Arman&Co. Good Morning, Jimmy. I took the liberty of attaching one of your pics from John's Saga; I've added one more shot of my car. The arms are slightly different, but are definitely related. The blades, however, are definitely not kin. As I understand it, the 206 & early 246 chrome wipers are the same, so I'll pick up my marbles and go home. Good Luck! There's also a tech bulletin on this. I have it on my work PC, I'll post it tomorrow, it has drawings for how to properly align the blades. DM
