THE DIARY OF OUR TRIP. ================ There are some weeks in life you wished never ended, and this last week is one of them Monday! We arrived in Germany on the 18th of July at 19.25 pm, our crappy Opel Corsa 1.2 rental was waiting for us at the airport (Frankfurt Hahn) We got in and headed south towards Schwetzingen. We arrived at the ARAL gas station, next to the Modena Days in Schwetzingen at 21.30 pm, from there we called Wolfgang, and in a few minutes he came by to pick us up and guided our way to our hotel in Plankstadt. After we had left our stuff at the hotel we drove with Wolfgang back to his house so he could park his car, then we decided to take our crappy rental and head downtown of Schwetzingen to find a nice restaurant, which we did. I dont remember the name of the restaurant but that is not so important, the important part is that we had a great time while we were there, nice dinner and a few drinks. The time just flew away - so we decided to bring Wolfgang home and we drove back to our hotel to get a good night sleep. Thuesday! Wolfgang came by and picked us up around 9 o clock, he told us to follow him back to his wonderful house where we had a coffee(not me) on the veranda, Wolfgang got a phonecall from Roel, who was in the naighbourhood, and they really wanted to stop by on their way to Austria. Roel, Lenny and their two girls showed up shortly after, it was very cool to meet him again and Lenny for the first time. They stayed for a hour and a half before they had to move on - Roels car was loaded, and I mean LOADED - for a second I thought he'd brought his whole house with him. After they left, the 3 of us decided to drive to Heidelberg for a sightseeing, and we visited the old Castle witch was amazing, we hired a guided tour, which was also very cool, exept for the giude - you really couldnt hear her speak After the guided tour at the Castle we headed downtown of old Heidelberg and Wolfgang showed us around. We went for a quick dinner in a really old restaurant/pub, had a couple of beers as well before we moved on. A MUST for every tourist is to cross the old bridge over the river which seperates the city into two parts, I dont remember the name of the river. But from the bridge we took som great pics of the Castle. Later that day we drove back to Wolfgang's house, he gave us a guided tour of his wonderful home - and this time we could really HEAR the giude We also met Anja there, and it was really nice to meet her again, she'd just returned from a 3 weeks of vecation and was pretty tired, who can blame her? Later that night we went out for a dinner at a local restaurant, Wolfgang insisted that I should have red wine for dinner, which I did (I'm actually a non alcoholic drinker, but it wasent that bad) after a very long a wonderful dinner we made some plans of what we're gonna do on Wedensday. Wedensday! Wolfgang called us in the morning telling us he was sad that he couldnt come with us to the Schwetzingen Castle this morning cause he had some important work to do, that was no problem at all, Merete and I drove to downtown of Schwetzingen to visit the HUGE Castle in the middle of the city - this Castle has an amazing history (the reason for my new Avatar) The Castle used to belong to a land lord by the name of Carl Theodor (1724-1799) and he had this Castle built just for ONE reason, this was HIS private 72 akar whore house, a place where he'd use to come to when he felt a hungry desire for woman, so this man is THE pimp of all pimps, Wolfgang and I had a great deal of fun about to this subject Later, Wolfgang called us and said he was done with his business, so we drove back to his house, picked him up and drove to the HockenHeimRing, there was still a few days to the race but the already the camping lot was full of Ferrari banners and a lot of drunken people. We went inside the historical museum at HHR, it was really cool to know some of the Rings history - but due to technical problems we wasent able to watch the movie in the museum. So we decided to head for Mannheim to go go-karting, which was really funny, this was Meretes first time trying this and man she was a good driver. I thought I should wait for her, since this was her first ride, I was wrong haha. first round:Wolfgang, Merete and I, the second round, Wolfgang, me and Merete... Afterwords Wolfgang really wanted to show us the "polar bears" of the Mannheim zoo...he was so proud to let us know that they had "polar bears" in Germany, but...hehe....after a closer look, these so called "polar bears" was actually "something" black bears..LOL...sorry buddy In the evening we was invited home to Wolfgang and Anja for a wonderful Italian dinner - and we had a great time that long evening and it became very late before we had to go back to our hotel for another good night sleep. Thursday! We met up with Wolfgang at his house around 7.30 am this morning, we were about to head for the NurburgRing (about 120 km) so Merete got the first 150 km ride, see pics in the thread. I tried to keep up, but sadly...well, you know the rest. (280 km/h) after getting fuel at a gas station we switched and I got the next ride it was pretty fun When we arrived at the Ring a bit later on we just missed the first race..but after a couple of hours we drove down to our hotel to check in. Then back to the Ring where I met up with Helmut, a really nice guy and Wolfgang met also a few of his co Ferrari friends. We also met a few Fchatters there, Ice Cube, MartinD, Joren and Dominiqe(?) we decided to have a drink with Dominqe and Joren later that night at the Dorint Hotel...so more about that later in this post. There was a lot of great looking cars at this event, Helmunt REALLY know how to held a Ferrari party In the afternoon, Wolfgang gives me a helmet and asked me if I would like to have a passenger seat while he was driving the track with his Testarossa, and he didnt had to ask me twice. We took a mind-blowing 4 lap race, we caught up with a F40 TWICE , and after 4 laps we decided to drive into the pit and let Joren have a few laps with Wolfgang as well, but unfortunatly the Testarossa's brakes started to get too warm so they was forced to leave the track after only one lap. Wolfgang decided not to drive the Testarossa any more that day, he'd wait for the brakes to cool down, but sadly this didnt help. He drove slowly back to the hotel and parked the car there for the night. We met up in the hotel's restaurant for another great dinner before we drove back up the the Dorint hotel to meet up with Joren and Dominiqe for a late night drink, and again we had a great time I also met up with some gents from the Enzo Club Of Germany, they were really nice, and I told them a bit about the Norwegian taxes and that I'd just bought my first Ferrari Anyway, it was getting late, so we headed back to our rooms for yet again a good night sleep. Friday! We met Wolfgang for our last breakfast together (for this time) before we went back to the NurburgRing for another great day. Wolfgangs brakes are "back" but not as good as he'd hoped for so he decides to leave a bit early in the afternoon to bring the car to his garage master. We said goodbye to eachother around 13.15 (after waited on the "Fchatters meeting point from 13.00, but nobody showed up ) After Wolfgang left, Merete and I stayed for another few hours, and after a while I met a friend of mine who asked me if I would like to go onto the track to take some pictures of all the vintage cars when they were lined up for press photo, and again, you dont have to ask ME twice We were lifted up in a platform so we got a great view of the cars, and some great pics it was. After another couple of hours we decided to say thank you to our friends at the Ring and it was time to go back to the hotel....cause this event was about to close up. We returned to Norway the day after, but both Merete and I will never forget this wonderful event - we really had a great time there, and we're looking forward to meet you all soon again - Wolfgang, Anja, Joren, MartinD, Dominiqe, Eddy, the gents from the Enzo Club and all the other friends we met, you know self who you are Thank you! Yours Paul & Merete of Norway!

Paul, great write up, thank you! I`ll store it for my diary Thanks a lot for calling me this evening. Could you please be so kind and post the TR on the track pics ?
WOW Note to self: Fly to Modena Track Days @ Nurb next year!!!!!!!! I must say, that it the MOST impressive display of cars I have ever seen at one place. I mean this in all seriousness....I think about 90% of the Ferrari line-up from the entire history were there. I saw some very old Ferraris from the 50's, 60's and on. I think the only car I dont recall seeing in those 32239237 pictures you posted was the 288 GTO, I could be wrong though. Everything from a 250 GTO to a Black Enzo and a Lambo LM002!!!!!!!!!
Thanx buddy, it was my pleasure - I told I'll call you when we got home from our trip..LOL a bit late though. I'll send you a couple in a minute (640x480) from Meretes collection, she will upload her pics tomorrow SKÅL
