I'd love to hear about more finds, feel free to share.

The cars were "known" in the Ferrari world (which is not as big as most people think it is), but I was one of the few that actually made the trip and risked getting Lyme disease to take pictures of them.

I know the Ferrari ended up on the west coast (and I understand that the owner gave up on the restoration), the Maser was last seen advertised out of the UK.

Erik, thanks for giving the link. It must have been a great experience to do your own barn find. Too bad that the cars were in such a terrible condition.

    Erik,

I think Tom S. got hold of the barn find America. Do you know if it was broken up?

    Regards,

Is this the place outside of Birmingham AL?
I visited there about 6 years ago and saw a mexico on the yard surrounded by Wolf-Dog hybrids on chains. The middle-aged guy said it had been the NY show car, and he had been offered 100K for it in the 90s. I told him it was too bad he hadn't taken it, and then I was asked to leave.
More of a junk yard than a barn find to me....

Their is a Miura in Greece that has not run since the mid 70's. It is supposed to have everything there. The owner does not want to sell it. He is waiting to restore the car when he retires.

Several decades ago I found a broken down Porsche in a parking garage in Oakland, Calif. I inquired about it and the guy wanted a new car price for it, so I passed.

I couple of years ago I was out in the California Delta and saw an old Buick in a barn as I was passing by. It looked like it may have been an early 50's vintage. It might still be there. If you're interested, email me.

Some of those old farmers don't ever let anything go.

Last time I was there the car was sitting up in a rack above some other stuff. It looked like it was in the same condition as when found.

I made an offer of $24k for it when it was in the barn, I guess that wouldn't get it out of Tom's shed either?

I just saw this announcement in the September issue of "Classic & Sportscar" magazine. Should be an interesting book. I have a birthday coming up soon, who wants to buy a copy for me?

The Ferrari in the California woodchip pile must be 0286AM.

Approx. 15 years ago, before I knew anything about Ferrari's. A friend of mine called me and asked me if I could help him identify an unknown car that was stashed in a industrial unit in Whittier. The story was that the Friend of my friend knew someone who had rented this industrial unit to store his various and numerous toys.He had a drinking problem and proceeded to kill himself.after his bottle fed suicide ,his wife had no idea of what was inside of this unit and asked said friend to tell her what was what. This friend knew that we were into oddball/unique foreign cars and could we help out.So we open this unit and it is full of goodies.racing go-carts,a pickle fork boat with a brand new Arrias motor sitting on a bench.a racing car trailer with a sprint car in it( I think)etc. etc. etc. and over in the corner covered in dust was what appeared to be a Ferrari.Upon closer inspection it was a British Racing Green painted 250 Lusso. In restored condition with its freshly rebuilt engine next to it on a stand.
WOW !.I didnt know a whole lot about Ferraris but I knew that it was worth a chunk of change!.I have no idea what eventually became of this car and have wondered about it from time to time.I was kinda hoping that she would give it to me for being such a swell guy(yeah right!) Tim
