Charity fundraisers for high end exotics and non disposables. Details in a link peepee will no doubt provide... Wakefield Park Fri 7th April.... I'm running 2x 360C (one speciale) and Stephens says he might share the truck with his 550 (bastardo)..... Phillip Island Fri 21st April.... Possibly NGT/F50 on Hoosiers, 2x 360C and 550 Bastardo, and maybe some of the MMsport candy cars. Possibly also the 360C with speciale evolutione engine (got full new exhaust inc trick headers for this car now.... I think power will now be the ~same as F40).
Wakefield just down the road from me... charity per-per ride type of day? everyone welcome to come in and look around etc? Alex.
All spectators/visitors welcome as per usual I would expect. Rides "possibly" available, but not sure.
I only asked about the rides coz you mentioned was charity fund raiser so I assumed that's how they were doing it.. Someone might enlighten me then ;-)
If visitors welcome or not.. will only come to have a look if it was going to be ok. Wakefield park has that day down as "private" booking, whatever that may mean in terms of event being open, closed to visitors etc. http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/index.cfm?pageid=pg111363146edoras
I don't know if it is or isn't. Either way, a paying paying punter at the track is going to raise more $$ than someone at home that doesn't even know about it.... If any polite person turns up with the right attitude, it usually serves them well.
no...i don't know either. either way, stephens hasn't paid his power bill or something, so www.fcavic.com.au isn't working
If you're not nice, I won't be working Sunday getting the SAN back up either! The AMSF day is billed as an invite only affair. My understanding is the paying (donating) participants are able to invite guests, but didn't believe it was open to the general public.
I wouldn't worry though. Widely advertised GT race meetings at Wakefield only get about 80-200 people through the gate to spectate each day, a little exotics parade like this wouldn't attract any numbers... BUT... anyone that did come to the public track MIGHT be able to buy a ride for a charity donation.
Will drop in and look around, hopefully some friendly will be people there and it won't be a problem. I like giving time and funds to charity events especially.. A friend invited me to drive one of his cars (Evo Makkinnen) few weeks ago at Oran Park for Variety club fund raiser and I took paying punters and lots of (track) virgins around for their first track experience. If opportunity to donate exists and ride is thrown in well that'd be fun I guess I should ask everyone I meet ".. are you on FerrariChat?" lol Hope the weather is nice, got suddenly very cool yesterday and definitely heading towards that time of year! Alex.
looks like SS paid his power bill. here's the link...but i'd ring and check before rocking up. i probably won't be there. http://www.fcavic.com.au/members/futureevents/amsfrd2006.pdf
Nooooooooooo Peter we can't have a Melbourne Ferrari event without you honouring us with your presence. Please say it isn't so....
It doesn't worry me, the more the merrier. At this sort of event they usually have a list of guests at the gate. The smoother operators and sexy women probably wouldn't have a problem getting in, but it's by no means a certainty.
Had a great day. Perfect conditions, no flies, loads of track time, no spills, all happy. All cars ran without incident. 275,355,2x 360C,Rex,Brabham,and the usual smattering of Porsches. Scott Shearman soon got in the groove (did a few 65's with fuel/passengers) after some time away from the track, and Tommy had a fun day too. Scott S and Geoff Morgan both drove Toms car too, and Geoff will drive it at PI. Nice to meet you Alex. Look forward to your photos (post your web link), and well done on your generous donation to the foundation. Hope you enjoyed your ride. Next one Phillip Island April 21st.
Hi Phil, Good to meet you - sounds like you got back to Melbourne pretty darn quickly.. Was great ride given by Scott and enjoyed meeting new people who so obvously enjoy themselves I will upload pics to site - haven't updated in couple of years but big backlog and this prompts me to dust off that section and update starting with AMSF Wakefield - will post link in next day or so.. cheers to all you guys there.. Alex.
Any update on the Phillip Island event? Who's going, what is running? Little chance I'll be attending but I'd like to know what I'm missing out on.
F50, 360C, 430C, several 550's inc 550 Bastardo, etc etc. It appears there wont be any F40LM or F40 road cars, but I don't have actual entry info.
Thanks for the info, sounds like a pretty decent turnout. Hope the weather does right by you and all attending have a great day.
and a good day was had by all, apparently. One guy I know did 200km on the track. some interesting cars, perfect weather and lots of track time. Makes me wish I could have afforded to go!
Good to hear, although it makes me more disappointed I didn't go. Can you be a bit more specific with those 'interesting cars'?
Harsh!, But fair. One interesting car was an Old Torana and Brocky was there driving it. He came for a chat while I was warming the F50 up, fishing for a drive I think, but he promoted and drove that Mongrel in B24, so he never stood a chance!! Besides, he's never driven a Ferrari, so an F50 was never going to be his first. One young lad got the ride of his lfe in the Old Torana though.... a rear tyre blew at VMax approaching Honda, and Brocky saved it from a high speed spin. That guy's smile will last months!!! Brocky was doing ~1.50/52 on the few laps I timed him FWIW.
i reckon that's pretty bloody impressive for a car that probably isn't setup for any track in particular on tyres that probably weren't at their best.
