I just got this email from Todd Russell, the owner of Dexter's Bar and Bistro in Crestline Village (Mountain Brook/Birmingham area):

I am seeking assistance in assembling a group of Ferraris for a car show. Our event is March 17th, and coincides with the ALMS 12Hrs. of Sebring and St. Patrick’s Day. The car show would be from 1pm – 4pm in our lot.

We will have the race on our bar televisions (8:30a – 10:30a & 1:30p – 9:30p). We serve brunch on Saturdays, and we will open early for those who want to watch the start. During the afternoon we will have a BBQ in the back of the parking lot. Throughout the evening we will continue race coverage, and offer food and drink specials.

I am prepared to buy dinner, or provide a gift certificate to anyone willing to bring out their Ferrari for the day. Thank you for your assistance.

I'm about 3 1/2 miles away. I spoke with Todd via email and I'll be there for sure. I'll bring along some of the local British car guys to help fill his lot if we can't get the usual 4 or 5 Ferraris from my area.

Cool! Would love to check out some Atlanta F-cars.

Hey Tommy and Mike C, is this Dexters place where Baca's used to be located?

I've emailed wpdent about bringing his TR. I'll also call a guy I know who owns a 330 GT 2+2 and lives 2 blocks away from Dexter's.

And yes - that is the former Bacca's

    UPDATE
I just received this note which seems appropriate to pass on: "I wish. I will be out of town. Please tell Dexter thanks for having this and let me know next time. Elton. PS there is a car show at Hooters on 280 Brook Highland on Saturday April 14, 10 to 2. Elton"

Sounds like we should have a nice turnout. I'll make sure that my friend Clif knows that he can't park his MR2 with the Ferrari stickers with our cars too.

My car is being serviced and is supposed to be ready on Friday. Since our monthly gathering at Giovanni's restaurant here was pushed back a week, I might just cruise on over to Birmingham for a free meal. I'll know for sure on Friday evening......

If someone would please post Dexter's street address I'll be able to figure out how to get there.

Well, I got the car back; now I just have to decide whether I want to take it on a 300-mile round trip! (And I'll be taking it to TGPR next Thursday: two Alabama expeditions in a five-day span?) I'll decide in the morning, so I may show up; no guarantees......

    Yeah, baby!

A pretty good lunch turnout for Alabama. The funny thing was that Philip pulled out in front of me on highway 280 in his F430, and I just assumed that we were going to the same place, but he kept on driving when I turned toward Crestline.

I don't even think that he saw me.

Looking forward to lunch at Mudtown Tuesday...

    Chris and Roy,
Great shots from Saturday's event at Dexter's. Thanks for posting. Funny how a free lunch will bring out a lot of cars.

Nice photos! And did you hear Bob Varsha mention Dexter's on the G.P. telecast Saturday night?

Sorry I didn't make it, but I decided one 200+ mile round-trip to Alabama will be enough for one week. I'm looking forward to our private track-day at TGPR on Thursday.
