    Alfa 8C2900
    Stratos prototype
    Cal spider
1937 Horsch (which later won the preservation prize at Pebble Beach)
500 Mondial, same owner since 1960, won the Venezuala GP driven by Castellotti
    330LMB
SA engine (I love these big Lampredi motors)
Lancia D24. One of 5 built. Won the '54 Portugese GP. The standout car of the day for me.

    Laguna Seca historic meeting

    Ferrari 312 F1
    DVF in a McLaren
    Fangio's Alfa
312P one of 2 in existence, driven by Tony Adamowicz at Le Mans and many other events. He came and sat in the car while we were there, it was great to get his first-hand stories of the car and racing it.

I should have mentioned that the Lotus 79 in the background of the 312F1 pic is the ex-Andretti car, which he later drove on the circuit.

That's all for now - I have a plane to catch.

It was interesting to me how some of the 312P's contours aren't discernable in photographs. I hadn't suspected the sharp angle of decline from the bottom of the windscreen towards the nose. The car took my breath away when I happened upon it. I believe that Andrea de Adamich, who also drove the car, was in the vicinity.

time for a few more from Laguna Seca.

close up of slide injection on the 312P
    cockpit
McLaren M8 engine (they're little rugby balls!)
    McLaren M8
McLaren M6 (with another famous driver)

One of the highlights each year is watching the Can-Am cars race and the big McLarens are very special. Alan Jones was racing this year too. I was unaware that he won a Can-Am title before he drove in F1, you have to respect anyone who drove those fast and dangerous cars.

Last race on Saturday included Ferraris 512S, 312P and 312PB, just amazing to watch (and hear).

    +1 big time!

I loved the smile on the face of the Mondial driver.

Once again Ian, may I swipe some of these pics for my FIAT club mag? (Might have to hide the pic of the Ottovu or a couple of blokes I know might send their pacemakers over the edge!)

    No, that one's a keeper! :D

btw Muscle car prices have tanked in the US. We sat in on the Kruse auction at Concorso, there a were some great cars, '67 Z28 Camaros with all the right options, Boss 302 'stangs, Shelby GT350 - all passed in.

The only cars selling were at huge discounts. A '57 Ford F100 custom, beautifully done, easily an 80K build, sold for 18K. Original steel body '32 ford Hiboy roadster, passed in at 40K, etc, etc.

Classic Ferraris on the other hand are holding up well, the good cars all made good money.
