    Happy holidays all!

I made my annual pilgrimmage to THE MALL and ran across a slot car shop aboslutely jammed with kids.

Are slot cars making a resurgence?

Anyone on this board w/a layout (other than this by Fchat Mid-Atlantic subscriber):

    http://www.thunderousproductions.com/iWeb/THUNDEROUS%20PRODUCTIONS/Slot%20car%20track%20for%20sale.html

I received a 2 Ferrari Racing F1 cars (1:43 scale ) for Xmas but don't have the spare real estate to assemble the track
    (doublewides are not very spacious).

Maybe it's back to the mall to "test" my new cars, but first I'll have to borrow a neighborhood kid.

Probably would look silly for an old man hanging out alone at the Mall w/bunch of kids and their slot cars.

I'm not so into slot cars, as I collect old Tamiya 1/20 and 1/12 car kits as well as all manner of their 1/10 and 1/12 RC cars, but my web searches for this stuff invariably leads me to different slot sites, and from what I can see, slot cars are making a HUGE comeback in the last few years, especially in the 1/32 scale arena. SCX, Fly, Carrera, are some of the reputable names, but there are many others.

    Everyone is downsizing.

No, really, I got a track when I finished my garage but it takes up too much room to keep set up. They are fun though aren't they.

Wasn't there a slot car track located off Oakmont Ave. in Gaithersburg at one time? I never got around to visiting, but wanted to check it out.

I have a variety of brands of slot cars, though not ninco. This one looks like a build it kit which can be fun, but might not be the best handling or might not work 100%. The only one I built from a kit doesnt' really work all that great. Of all my cars, the fastest and best handling are the formula one models -- I guess slots mirror's real life :D. Specifically the scalextrix versions:

    I have this one:

    and this one

    http://www.scalextric-usa.com/index.php?CURRENT_PAGE_ID=135&PARENT_ELEMENT_ID=339

makes for some nice ferrari vs bmw races (my two brands of cars)
