I'm iffy about another "remake" and unoriginal regurgitation from Hollywood. should I really bother?

It's a Spielberg movie. NOT a Tom Cruise movie.

In our own world we can't get a MAC computer to work with PC computer....PLEASE tell me Earth doesn't survive by introducing a "virus" into the aliens computer and the result is that their entire fleet collapses from the sky?

I far preferred the the "Mars Invades" approach of their heads exploding to the sound of country music....

 

i don't want to spoil it for anyone, but i was pretty displeased with the ending... i never saw the original movie or ever experienced any medium of the original, from which this is apparently a regurgitation, so i have nothing to compare it to... Generally, it was a good movie, but there were some things - things that matter, like the plot - that, once the movie was over, really made me question whether it was worth the hundreds of millions of dollars spent making this movie...


...not that i'm trying to discourage anyone from seeing it.

 

Great film. As soon as I got home I busted out my dusty vhs of the original, it stayed pretty true to the original... Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning were excellent. Spielberg held it down as usual with great shots, very tense moments and some disturbing scenes. The ending is where this movie is getting criticized for the most but i'm not going to spoil anything.

 

LOL. It's "Mars Attacks" by the way but I agree with you on the virus thing even though I thought Independence Day was a great popcorn movie.

 

Ah yes..."Mars Attacks".....thank you. And yes, Independence Day was a good/great movie....but the concept of our computers giving an alien computer a virus: I'd rather see an ending where the aliens are invited to Michael Jackson's "neverland" and decide the planet wasn't worth the trouble!

On the flip side, at least the aliens in War of the Worlds waited until the new 430 spider came out. Wonder which tranny aliens would prefer, 6-speed or F1?????

I saw it last night, I didnt really think too highly of the plot or the enormous luck that Tom Cruise and his daughter and son encountered compared to that of nearly everyone on earth. The special effects were great however....except for that thing that looked look an ******* that wanted to eat Cruise......gross.....

If you ignore the fact that the lead actor of the film is a lunatic in real life than you'll love this movie. It was the best summer blockbuster to come out in ages. I was creepy and strange. I loved it. They should make more movies like this.

 

Um, guys; are you aware that this was made into a book? (Okay, novella, actually.)

... back before films were invented.

Then a radio play, on Halloween before WWII. (I loved the sound effects.)

But, hey, they did a film of Hitchhiker's, so why not?

 

We just want to know about the movie without any self deprecating monologue...

 

tom Cruise was good. But I thought the movie was stupid. Watching Cruise get chased by aliens all nite gets old. Speilberg could have done better. A more sophisticated plot.

 

In the original the death of the aliens was due to a physical virus. They had no defense against Human disease. A much more logical demise.

 

Not, in my opinion, if they're more intelligent than us, have been scoping us for centuries and have been studying us...
