I just think it is kind of fun to play with the program and see what you can do with it. Some of the edits look nice but they have a animated quality to them that is just not quite right.

Thanks! Not my house, but a 16 unit condo project in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico. I developed it with a business partner and construction was just completed. We had a little open house party in November and that's when I took the pictures. I'll put a couple of b&w ones under the daily random pic thread since they are not HDR. Now there's a thought; black and white HDR. I think I will mess around with that.

The first pictures are quite blown out. The best way to do HDR is to do multiple shots on tripod then combine with HDRSoft

The ONLY way to do HDR is to take multiple shots.

not true, you can take a single shot done in raw, and adjust exposure for 3-5 pictures. Then you can combine those instead of having pictures that are same aperture but different shutter speed.

That makes an image constructed from varied brightnesses, but without any more information than your digital camera's sensor can record in a single shot (read: not HDR).

A High Dynamic Range image has detail in it that would otherwise have been lost due to metering within a limited dynamic range.

I like the fourth shot. I just wish he'd held the camera straight.

Just out of curiousity, why would that be the look being aimed for?

Errrr, looks like you missed something. With HDR properly done, you should be able to see the detail of the cliff, yet have a blue sky (not white) and small sun (not a big white light) ...

Do you have to use RAW shots to combine for HDR or can you shoot jpg?

You can shoot jpg. At least 3 shots. -2, 0 and +2. Most cameras have automatic bracketed exposure, but it's usually not enough as it only does -1, 0 and +1.

    I think it's nice.

I like HDR images most when they fill in the gap between technology and anatomy.

I look at that picture and I believe it's something that my eyes could see but a single-exposure from a digital camera could not.
