It's a cool idea for sure, but I think it should stay like that: an idea. I'm sure he could've gotten it fixed to great running shape, but I guess he got too fed up and threw in the towel. I don't know if Roy will like that, though, after reading his sig quote. Maybe the guy should've just bought a poster of the car, lol.

I would do something like that (given I had the funds), but *only* if I had a "10 out of 10" in the garage. The Countach IS artwork, but it's best viewed when in motion, IMO.

that just looks wild....didn't think someone would actually do it in their own home, its kinda like the lambo museum with the diablo (engine and all) bolted to the wall...

I wouldnt do something like that simply because the car isnt just about the shape but also the experience. Its like having the bottle and label of a really good wine without the actual wine.... We'll just have to wait for Roy's thoughts about this one...

Cool idea yes....but I dont like it, thou if i was going down the expensive art route in my house i would find one that wasnt already in running shape and would just be fine for parts or needed a motor. But that car i look at it being such a waste, ok it might break down regularly but hey thats the beauty of ownership, nothing like sitting on the side of the road leaning against your lamborghini, I could think of a lot worse things to do! I am sad for that car because if it wasnt on the wall alteast they could GIVE it to me and I can drive it, and it would go out regularly...break downs and all!

if you guys read the article, the guy in question used to drive it all the time, but got fed up with it always breaking down on him....so in the end its not a waste puttin it up on the wall, hes had his play time with it.

And at least it's been his for a while. Not that it really makes a difference, but I'd feel terrible if I sold my beloved CT only to have some guy mounting it on the wall of his new mega-mansion in under a week.

He probably couldnt see the justification in restoring the car back to its former glory and opted to mount it on a wall... Either that or he never had someone to completely go through the car and he merely just drove the life of that ct...Because any ct owner will tell you that a car breaks down because of neglect, not because of bad reliability... Its a 30+ year old car. You cant buy the thing and expect it to run great and reliably without sometype of work done first....

To be honest I think its a great idea. You dont want to put it in a museum, well just make you're own! The owner probably has loads of other cars etc anyway.

That's a pretty cool idea. Reminds me of the display Ford did with 3 GT40s hanging vertically on a wall in their LeMans 24 hour positions except with real cars. Both your idea and the Ford one are more action-oriented rather than simply putting something on the wall as if you ran out of garage space.

  18. Just think, years later he will decide to restore it to its former glory, only to find out that his wife donated the engine and other parts to the Salvation Army thinking she was cleaning up the place.

The owner is an heir to the South Coast Plaza shopping mall. I have a friend who is Very serious about her shopping and this place is at the top of her list.
I believe he can afford to do what he wants with the car and probably have many more of the same in the garage.

    Taste is always subjective.
