took the 575M for a walk on us101 hwy here in sf. came up on a blk kleemann e55. mellow driver and open road...i pulled on it and driver did not respond. second time he caught up in slow traffic...once clear again he glanced and pointed straight as signal for me to pull again-anyway I did at about 65mph...w/in seconds that e55 was up and gone about 1.5-2 car lengths and that frikin' thing kept pulling like a freight train-could not catch him (must admit :( )and slowed at about 110 mph. any idea what is in those kleeman e55's-i know the stock e55's are enough of a beast, but this thing was downright dangerous fast. a friend mentioned maybe a k2/kleeman? any thoughts...somewhat humbling...

Oh yes, that is one hot motha. Added boost, better ECU mapping, performance intake & exhaust. Nice kit, I am very impressed with the upgrades they offer.

And its not even the "fast" Kleeman.

A good friend of mine runs a shop in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (www.motorwerksgroup.com) and they are an authorized Kleeman dealer. They've got some monsters in there!! He told me they took a "Kleemanized" SL65 AMG over to another shop across the street that has a dyno and the guys in there (a bunch of hot-rodder muscle car boys) all simultaneously dropped their jaws when the SL did a burnout on the dyno!!! Figures as follows:

    Stock SL65 AMG: HP 617, 738 lb./ft. torque

    "Kleemanized" SL65 AMG: HP 720, 900+ lb./ft. torque

    .....all at like 2,200 rpm!!!!!

    Cheers,
    Aaron

thanks. have heard the stock e55's 0-60 & 1/4 mi. are fastest sport sedan on planet (better than even new v10/m5 b/c 520 lbs torque available 2500rpm's-basic mash and go, i guess)...and w/ exception of our highest end ferrari's and turbo prosches etc. that these e55's are beasts (and can about keep pace w/ even best of these)...heard of kleeman-this was a beautiful car-did not seem like guy was agrressive (seemed pretty cool-he only answered my call, then ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE-must admit i love our Stallions, but that e55/k was one bad a$$ motha-wonder how many other drivers of our similar cars (porsche/lambo) have had their a$$es almost handed to them as well, and were unsuspecting...kleeman has k1-4 (just looked up)...the middle k2 pkg (guess kleeman is exclusive merc high performance tuners) has 560 hp and 610 lbs torque...pleasantly frightful...and as member mentioned -not even a fast kleeman-k4 must be something...anyway-thanks for info.

Perhaps I need an upgrade on my C320C and the SLK350? Both are V6's and haul in their stock form - wonder if there's an upgrade for the 6's!

before i bought the A8 i came real close to buying the AMG S65. why not? simple two words 'stupid fast' oh it was fun but it was a handfull! i could see myself spending a few nights in jail. there is just no reason why a sedan should have that kind of power, it's pure overkill. sure track cars and dragsters are fun, but that's regulated.

i liken it to giving a heroin addict a 5lb brick of pure heroin and expect him not kill himself, odds are an OD is going to happen. for me that car was my heroin!

    stupid fast...

I own both a CLK320 (daily driver) and a debagged CLK55. The v6 is a blast to drive in of itself and can get up around 30mpg on the highway. The AMG is an absolute beast. I have caught many, many people off guard when they pull up next to me in their hot shot racers. Jaws drop at it's tenacious torque.

edit: Those e55, in a straight line, are no joke.

A guy that I've spoken with on a few occasions owns a new m5 and says that it was a very difficult car to drive and all the HP is just excessively fast. He said that BMW offers a driving school in NC to teach people how to drive the car and he says he is embarassed to admit it but he is enrolling this fall! Funny to hear people so timid to drive their sedans around cause of all the HP and torque.

My e55 is 3 months old, and stock. The torque is addictive! I took it on a 1000 mile round trip road trip, and didn't want to come back.

0-100 it's tough to beat the e55k. The M5 comes on fast in the high end, and will beat the e to 120+.

I've heard about the Kleeman mods, many swear by it, and I've been considering it.

I have an 05 e55 with k3 and kleeman LSD. The car is an absolute monster. It will keep up and even beat a lot of exotics, in a straight line that is. 0-60 in 3.9 secs. I am now selling it only because I miss manual shifting . F430 arriving in august.

    What's it to ya?

That would be the ///M School in SC not NC. I took a PDC (Performance Delivery Center)for my ZCP M3 there last year and did the whole M School. It is a blast driving those cars on the wet course. Try taking a 100 mph curve in the rain and coming out the other side in one piece.

The K8 Kleeman is the one to have. There are a few I run into here in Jupiter. Just by the sound I would not want any part of those. N Palm Beach county is the world HQ for Hot rod Benzs it seems. We have RennTech's HQ here and the owner lives on my street. He brought a SLR w/ their stg 2 pkg on ithome last week . I just sat there staring at it while walking my dogs. He came out and fired it up, I just sat there like doh!!! he said it is good for about 780 hp at the wheels. I was like "yeah thats enough I guess "

How is the mpg on the E 55's? Are E class owners lucky enough to get great mpg on the highway at normal cruising speeds?
