Quote: His [FA's] British win also means he has taken 74 points from a possible 80 so far in 2006 - a scoring rate of 92.5 percent, beating Michael Schumacher’s dominant 2002 and 2004 seasons and surpassing Nigel Mansell’s imperious 1992 campaign.

    Wow!

    No surprise really.

I think that Alonso's worst enemy is reliability, and so far, there has not been a hint of the Renaults being unreliable.

Alonso is unbeatable at the moment. It just sucks, because he is young, rich and now famous, and quite a few guys are pretty jealous of him, me included :)

Schumacher won 12 out of 13 races in 2004 - nearly similar scoring percentage but all wins. So let's see if Alonso can keep it up for another 5 races. :)

Ascari won all the F1 championship races in 1951 - 100% record. No one's going to beat this.

Some of Clark's dominant seasons in 63 and 65 were impressively dominant considering the lower reliability standards in those years.

He won the title in 1952 and won 7 of 8, not a 100% record tho he skipped a race and that is why ppl make it out he got 100%. He also went on to get 9 race wins inarow which is pretty impressive as a stats point of view but on the big picture its more to do with the Dominace of Ferrari back in that era.

We cant directly compare seasons just on the amount of races held each year vary, back in the 50's it was 8ish now its 18ish.

Alonso is on track to get most pts, but that is assuming he presses all the way to the end, look at MS back in 2004, he was giving away race wins to Rubens soo he could of had an even bigger pts haul, but with 18races in a season ofcourse you have a better chance of getting more pts than a 16 race or 10 race season. Lets not forget it used to be 9pts for a win as well.

lol....FA is just 2-3 yrs older than me. tell me how would i feel, he's there racing against the best and the fastest men out there, and i'm here pursuing my business degree... but one thing tho, FA's rivals seem to always go down to unreliability. i'm still pretty convinced that webber could have got his 1st win at monaco 3 weeks ago...

I read an article that mentioned another statistic that FA could clinch the way he is going: Continous appearances on the podium. I believe MS has it so far at 19 and FA could eclipse this season.

At any rate I'm so hoping for Kimi dominating next year in the Ferrari. Pleasepleaseplease.
