    Hi all,
Tip of the day, ditch the stock burn your car down catalytic converters & pick up the hyper-flow cats from Daniel @ Ricambi.
I was probably the most skeptical about performance gains, my reason for tossing the stock cats was more for reliability reasons...The stock cats & the damn ECU's to monitor them basically suck. The Cat ECU monitors the cats temp so if it gets out of range it shuts bank down so car does not become a fireball. Many agree the stock cat design is to blame who knows I just figured if the masses say it sucks, it sucks.
So, I get the hyper-flows so my engine can breath better, to eliminate the issues of Cat ECU's & the issues of potential fire if cats load up with fuel.
I have a Tubi already do the hyper-flows were athe final step for me in the exhaust of this 348.
Now, I could not believe when I left Midas (yes they were happy to do install, charged me $130 didnt think that was obscene) the power difference...it was very evident, just seemed to have more power!
Sound is awesome, noticeable difference & really sounds sweet when you accelerate!!
Cost is in the teens for the set however this will be money well spent. If for no other reason than making the exhaust less constricted & the ECU issues ($600 + or - for cat ECU's ,2 are on the car , everytime they ____ up and they will) many people frustrated with slow down lights unplug them to clear light however just think if a few months down the road if a legitimate fault happens & the light is disconnected....betta have halon & great insurance ;)

Once again, Daniel is the man of the day. He took his time to chat about them, never trying to close me on spending money...he just trys to help.
Buy them if you have not already, you too will be writing OMG I cannot believe the difference letters also!!
    Chris

unplugging the cat/ecu sending units that shut down the bank...I think I should learn this in case of emergency..

I would think that putting in new cats doesn't mean you no longer need the ECU's. You can still over heat the new cats, ergo, same problem. My understanding is, if you want to leave the ECU unplugged, the cats need to be removed...

Although I don't advocate it, I have pulled the thermocouples from my HyperFlow cats too. I believe they run so much cooler than stock, and since they're metal cores they won't break apart -- thus it's safe (in a relative way) to pull the ECU's.

Backup plan #2? I carry Halon in the car.

Backup plan #3? I have good insurance.

Ponder this, does your everday driver have CAT temp probes attached to it? No, the design of the original Ferrari cats was poor. Could a hyper-flow heat & burn I suppose anything is possible as well as the other millions & millions of "unsupervised" cats on normal everyday drivers...

The car can breathe now, you really can feel & hear the difference when swapped...that was just in normal driving conditions...not high revs!

Mine are still attached to the stock probes, one side still is monitored just because the Cat ECU is still fine..other side the cat ECU is removed (simply just plugs in to two connectors).

And they are CARB approved so even those of us living in the People's Republic of California can take advantage of the benefits.

Yes. Inside the box, you'll find the CARB "aftermarket" exemption receipt. That should be carried with you (in your glovement), and presented on request. Any Cali official can punch that number (on the document) into their computer and it'll come up as a legitimate OE replacement within California regs. HyperFlow has spent a lot of time and money ensuring these work well and are fully legal in California. They have tested clean in all 50 states and several countries.

You guys should know that the bad cat ECU's is a seperate problem from the cats. Ferrari knows the damn things fail, and crap out. They have been updated. If you get the later variant for the 360 with the green painted dot on them, those will be more reliable. I noted in the records for my 355 that there were persistant issues with the cat ECU's for the previous owner, until they were all replaced with the later part...never tripped a light since.

Correct! However at $600+ a pop (2 required) for the cat ECU's most people sell hell with it my cats are fine & disconnect them.
Replacement of Cats solves the bad cat design of stock, the risk of cat failure from stock & the ECU issues..
Plus you get a sweeter sound, emissions legal, less restricted flow & more horespower...makes no sense to me not to have them imho..

Actually, you need three ECU's not two...
But the point is you can solve the lights tripping by replacing the bad ECU (s). Yes, the oem cats can (and often will) fail and the honeycomb matrix can crumble apart. You will know it, as it will deposit white residue on your tailpipes, and make a nasty rattling sound.

Hyperflows don't use the crap ceramic cores. They use metal cores, and I have yet to hear of a single one that crumbled or fell apart.
