My name is Danny and for as long as I can remember I've owned Mercedes and I still do own a few today including the SL55 but recently one of my friends rented a Ferrari 360 while we were on a trip to Vegas and I fell in love, I went to the dealership to try to talk to a salesman about a true cost to own and he pretty much talked down to me because i was driving my '00 SL500 which is my daily driver but anyways i just wanted to know how much service work was necessary for this car and how often and average yearly prices and what not bc honestly my SL55 A service was around $1000 and my SL500 was about $600 know i know mercedes are incredible like that but now i want a 360 and im scared because i don't know much about these cars and have always heard of these $10,000 services and im tired of people saying if you can afford it it doesn't matter because frankly it DOES matter because you can move mountains with $10,000 and the snotty ferrari salesman doesn't realize it takes him 3 months to make that

If it takes you 3 months to make 10k you have no business buying a 360. In fact how can you afford a SL55 on that kind of money. No offense but this post doesn't sound kosher!

Im saying the salesman by saying if you think 10k of service is alot is disrespectful bc as a salesman he probably only makes 3-4k a month and he could never ever afford 10k, i think its safe to say i make a little more than 3-4k a month...

I don't know how much Ferrari salesman make but an associate of mine sells new
and pre-owned Mercedes Benz for a well known SoCal dealership and he pulls down 125k to 150k every year for the past 5 years.

Which dealer did you go talk to? The dealer in the Wynn casino?

I see you are located in Houston. Ferrari of Houston(FoH), owned by Risi, is highly competant to 'steer' you in the right direction. I recommend a quick phone call to setup and appointment as opposed to walking in. :)

Also, you will see this website has many subject specific subforums. Next time when asking a question about a 360 you shuld direct it to the propoer area. You'll learn the ropes pretty quickly I trust.;)

    Welcome to the club.

If you were to put 5,000 miles on the car a year then expect to pay around $2,000 each year on service. If you can change your own fluids then it is around $750 a year to own. That is based on not abusing or racing the car.

The only thing to do each year for sure is change the fluids - around a thousand. Belts every 3 - 4 years will run maybe $5,000. The figures vary quite a bit though and some small shops may charge a lot less.

Give the guy a chance he is new and he is asking questions before jumping into Ferrari ownership. I just wish that I would have done more research and had F-Chat before I bought my car because I would have known what to look for and the questions to ask. Just to let you know Ferrari's are very expensive to maintain and repair bills can run over 10k depending on the problem. I have had good and bad experiences with dealerships I just didn't spend my money with the bad ones. If maintainance cost are a concern have you every considered the new Ford GT awesome car and about the same cost as a 360, but alot less to maintain.

Yeah, I had to take a deep breath on the second read through because on the first read I did not realize the sentence was soo long that I had to take a small break in the middle and then realized I should start over and take a biger breath because in reading it the sentence does not roll off your tongue too easily and it should be broken into at least, say, two or thre, or evem four, no, maybe five sentences because that would make more sense because it reads as if it were written as part of a three word story and not that there is anything wrong with that uhoh, shoot gotta go,....any way can you help me?

Ok, so translated -- he likes the 360 a bunch, and wants to get one, but is used to the low costs of Mercedes ownership. He went to ask the dealer about it, and got treated like trash.

    1) Welcome to Fchat

    2) Yep, many dealers treat people like trash.

    3) There's a 360/430 forum below that is dedicated to the model you like. You may want to start by reading in that forum. There's a search function at Fchat that helps somewhat. Click on 'search' on the bar above and type "360 Maintenance" to see some of what's been posted about it.

Hey Tillman, thanks for furnishing the positive information for Danny. The poor guy got sacked immediately by non-Ferrari owners - not fair and is certainly a put-off to someone new to the forum.

Good luck Danny in your search for a 360. We are also Mercedes owners - C320C (only one configured as is in the US) and an SLK350.

Wow, come on guys. If we treat everybody like this when they are new there will not be many new people that stick around long. Danny I wned 2 360's and the information given here is right on target. The only thing I would add is that Ferrari parts and labor costs are going to be higher than what your used to. When one of my Mercedes needed something done, dealer came to pick it up with a loaner car and then brought it back when they were done, usually within 24 hours.

Ferrari world is a bit different than that.

$750 a year if you change your own fluids?? That sounds cheap to me! Not inaccurate, since I have no idea....but anyone can afford $750 a year and save up for the belt service. I bet a lot of Testarossa/512 owners spend a lot more than that, not to mention some 348/355 owners. 360's seem like a "cheap" relatively new Ferrari to own.

Take it easy. Nobody has a problem with the original poster himself.

Some of us may have a problem with the way he writes. I'm not going to waste my time on someone who can't string together a decent sentence (and you shouldn't either). If he can't make the effort than nor will I. May I be so bold to say that some guy who can't or chooses not to use periods, apostrophes, or capitalization won't be able to communicate effectively enough to be in a position to own a 360? I've reread his post and still can't understand it.

Writing in the real world is not a series of text messages strung together.
