    Hi all,

This car with important Dutch history has returned on home soil. It has been dormant since 1961!

Original owner was the late Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands. The registration plates indicate this as well (AA plates were reserved for the Dutch Royalty).

Car now has 0387 GT stamped on both chassis and engine block. The new Dutch owner is going to make it drive again but will leave it at that. No Pebble Beach restoration.

Pictures were taken by me at the Concours at Paleis 't Loo in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands on September 2nd. A fitting location for it's a Royal Palace.

    Best, Peter

Wow, what struck me right away, was the family resemblance to another Pininfarina creation of that era, the Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider (bumpers, side profile, taillight treatment, etc...).

    Beautiful car.

The bumpers are not original to the car and most likely the ones from a Aurelia spider.

Nice, the kind of find we all dream about.

Was the X5 (fourth picture) the tow vehicle? I refer to ours as "the sportscar with a view."

Interesting, here is 0269. 0277 is for sale in France. 0279 was recently sold. Lots (well, given the supply) of Pf cars to be seen recently.

If you have any more photos of 0269, I'd love to see them. Thank you for the post.

I suppose that's why it gave me that impression ;)

Still, naturally, they share similar styling themes.

not a perfect design, IMO. The grille is too large, and the point at which the roof meets the front window pillars look a bit funky. I also don't like how far the tail lights extend out from the body. I agree that those are not the original bumpers. Still, I would take it :)

I see the Lusso wasn't the first to place the large gauges in the center of the dash.

The ones on 277 look correct to me, but Marcel is far more an expert on matters like this than I am....

    Sorry, forgot this thread.
The why and when the renumbering took place is a bit of a mystery but possibly involved 0139 too. Suggestions are that high import taxes had anything to do with it. In short: 0139 may have been renumbered to 0269, 0269 was renumbered to 0387 and 0387 is now renumbered to 0139....

I have pictures but unfortunately not clear enough to resize and upload.

    Best, Peter

    Hi Peter and all,

What a lovely car! I really like the plates and I was wondering if there was any way one would know what plate number was on my ex-Prince Bernhard 330 GT 2+2 when he owned it? Would the plates also have been blue (1967)? And how would I get repros made with a bracket? I have 2 sets of holes on the front bumper.

    Thanks,

    Dan

I was just reviewing an earlier thread on this same car by Marcello and noted a pic of the Prince's 365GT4 2+2 and it also had AA13 plates. Can I assume my car thus had AA13 plates?

    Hi Dan,

The late Prince always used number 13 as personal Royal plate (AA plates are Royal plates). For example Hx-13, AA-13, AA-013 and AA-00-13. This depended on the registration system of the time. For your car the AA-13 plate with white letters on a blue background should be correct (just like the ones on s/n 0269/0387).

p.s. these plates are still being made in The Netherlands (for use for classic cars and bikes).
