Sounds right as I offered $115k for the fully serviced Black/tan one at SC Lambo with 15k Miles and they said it sold for $120.

In a few months the new year may see prices drop more....but TDF Blue is lovely

The black/tan car may bring some additonal $$. Once you climb over the 20K mile mark many people feel the value really drops. Those people being the dealers. At auction the last one to go through:
    07/25/06 BIG H Regular $91,500 29,166-Red/Tan

This would tell me the one you are looking at is a $97-100K car at auction which means $110-115 for full retail. As winter draws closer unless the car is on the west coast it will sit. Seems like a nice buy for that $110-115 range..just my thoughts

Just an update I visited the car reviewed all of documents. 1 owner. owner actually did a ferrari warranty 2 times on the car. The 1st time FNA required a 15 k service in order to do warranty. 2 nd warranty was done in 8/04. 30 k hasnt been done but will be at asking price per dealer. The black lips on undercarriage are being resprayed do to some scuffs. but otherwise after 1 hour I only found 1 scratch. and that is on the lower rocker panal. other wise this cars appearance is as new. interior is excellant except for shrinkage on passenger air bag. and on rear shelf by the back window. They didnt have the original sticker but it looks like the whole interior is leather back shelf quilted and roof liner.Per dealer all leather work to be fixed except airbag do to saftey issues.(They are concerned with a leather person touching airbag) I will be doing a PPI this week once the front lip and rear lip have been painted. Do any of you 550 guru's have any pressing issues i should be looking for. As I have said I have had 4 F cars this is my 1st 12cyl. any info is well appreciated. Also anyone agree that the factory wheels have to go. jthey just do not make the car look that aggressive. any ideas?

Have a look at all the records.

Check to see if the clutch has been done or if it feels heavy.
    Also look for:
    All new plenium hoses
    Motor Mounts
    Shock issues
    Brake rotors and pads
Get a leak down in your PPI if you are really concerned. As long as the car has been well maintained and serviced you should not have any issues.

Excellent tips - I knew about the motor mounts and shocks, but appreciate the others.

Oh yeah, this car had a Tubi which can be about a $3500 item. I see many owners going for Tubi's which is probably the most common upgrade.

All of the options are great, jus remember it you are going to sell it in a few years that options do not matter. When looking to buy one of these do not place values on stereo systems, tubi's, leather shelfs, or even new tires.

When you go to sell it the dealers depending on the miles may not even touch it. Just keep in mind that and know that if you are going to drive it a great deal.

I appreciate the info. but at the price I have negotiated I could afford to put 30k on it in the the 4-5 years. and then maybe still get $40 k for the car.
I would be quite happy with that. What will a 2000 550 with 45k on it be worth in 5 years? lets face it 328 and 348 's are selling in the high 30's to low 40's with 30-50k on it. And a 550 is light years above those cars. Not fully knowing the 550 market i can only make a guess. But from what I have read you really want a 550 that has all the records and is not a garage queen. 45k in 11 years old would be be average I would think.

A 550 should be worth more in 5 years with those miles on it, should be the emphasis.

However, the residual value the banks will place on it may be $45-50K. I personally think they will hit the wall around $60-65K from a wholesale perspective maybe a bit lower. If you look at a 512 or even a Testorossa they are selling in mid to low 60's right now with 20-30K miles on them. That is a good 12 cylinder comp from years and orginal value.

I would use that as a gauge for where a 550 will be with 35-50K miles on it in 3-4 years.

I have a '98 550M with the Fiorano handling pack. I've also recently sold my 360 F1 Spider. The two were "chalk and cheese".

While the 550M is a serious car with towering torque the 360 is more like a toy by comparison. Don't get me wrong, my 360 F1 Spider (which I had painted in Rolls-Royce Peacock blue with Crema) looked fab and was great fun.

But I don't think I've ever driven a finer handling car than the 550M while the 360 was always highly strung by comparison.

And the difference in torque was perhaps the most telling.

Keep the 360 at 5,500+ and things were fine. But lower down it was gutless.

    I have a new 599 F1 being delievered around January 07. But I'm going to keep the 550M - it's that good.

We have started to see a consistent issue with 550 fuel pumps and the rubber basket they are held by.

My 2001 550 had to have both pumps replaced and the baskets replaced because the rubber is not compatible with current fuels, the rubber disintegrates and clogs the pumps. We currently service 3 550's and all three have had to have pumps and baskets replaced the year. These are cars with 3k to 10k miles on them.

My 550 started showing signs of fuel issues again today, this is 3 months after putting in new pumps.

The problem is so wide spread that the rubber baskets have been back-ordered by FNA. I love my 550, but you need to have the pumps removed and the baskets replaced, it is an easy job, but necassary.

Strange, Ive never heard of this 550 problem before, and Ive read plenty of 550 posts....
I'm curious....what are the "signs of fuel issues" which you refer to above?

Could this be a fuel quality issue in your immediate locale? After all, if you are noting problems so soon after having these items replaced, doesn't this seem too early for this type of disintegration to re-occur? This car came out in the mid-90's...how can it already be "incompatible" with fuels today?

My first year with the 550, I often used fuel injector cleaner when filling up with certain types of gas that weren't "fortified" with cleaners.....reading this post makes me regret doing that......

Id be interested in hearing more about this issue, might bring it up when its time for the 30k service......

My 550 came from Caulley Ferrari and it happened within a month, the other F550 came from Florida, it needed it after 3 months, the other 550 came from Utah it was done within 5 months.

We spoke with Dave Helms in Denver and he said it is very common, and not just on 550's.

It causes the filters to clog, you get fuel starvation, and you get slow down lights due to lean burning.

Dave Helms in Denver or Chris Hill in KC are alot more knowledgable than me on this..

Wow...This is really interesting..Can anyone else add to this? I have had 2 550's and never encountered this issues. I am buying another one in the next 2 weeks and have never look on the service records for this...

Maybe it depends on the local fuel content.
    Too much ethanol in Kansas?

    High sulfur content?
    Change gas stations maybe...

Agree that it might be an issue in certain locations due to gas (mixtures differ around the country). Haven't had the issue- yet, with a '97 550. Crossing my fingers but our local Ferrari mechanic gurus haven't expressed concerns as of yet

Well it is interesting in that all three cars came from different areas of the US. I do not know if it is an ethanol issue or not...
