Ok, so you guys all went to the Rockville show. I'm sure there was lots of tinkling of champagne glasses and brie cheese with baguettes floating around. I know there were some lovely cars parked out in the field with beautiful people tittering about.

Let me tell you about what you missed at the UPS show. We had T & A, semis doing burn outs, GTOs with outrageous double blowers. We had custom paint jobs and demons and Caddies spewing out flames!

You had your Rolls Royces and little chevies driven to church every Sunday by some hat wearing old lady who liked to knit.

We had a Packard built on a C6 chassis, a portable dyno with guys beating their iron on it to prove their manhood! We had a burnout contest with concrete barriers! I drove a 600hp + custom/purpose built 1941 Willys with a blown 454 that burn rubber everytime you touched the accelerator!

But on a serious note, I would have liked to go to the Rockville show, but...

    I AIN'T NO SISSY! ; )

(just kidding, I would have loved to have gone to the Rockville show. I was there last year and was very impressed by the quality of the the cars shown.)

naw, that's my sister! Just kidding. I believe she was a model. I gave my camera to my friend, Ed. (In some circles, that is a nasty mistake. At least my friend had the wherewithall to shot something I would find intriguing.) I wanted him to shoot some pictures of cars whilest I manned my photography booth. He shot some cars and about 50 pictures of the thonging Asian chick. A bunch of the shots didn't really work. Ya'll have seen the cream of the crop.

In all seriousness, the show was lots of fun with around 2000 cars to look at and maybe 100 motorcycles. The burn out contest was a little scary. All those people crowded closely to lots of horsepower. I didn't do as much photography business as I would have liked to but if your not out there swinging, how ya ever gonna get a hit? Besides, it was worth it to do a massive burnout right in front of a cop in a 600hp car!

Its a different scene from the Rockville show and gets bigger every year. all the proceeds go to charity and UPS puts a significant effort into it. Even if you're not a hot rodder, you have to admire the tons of work and money that is poured into some of these cars. My buddy has 120 grand into his 41 Willys. I know a guy that has almost 200 grand in his 57 Chevy. Then you start looking at the outrageous figures that hemis are going for.

These are the cars these guys grew up with and now that they might be a little successful, or the house and kids are paid off, its time to jump back into the glory days.

    cheers

She wasn't the only one. The low-rider truck guys had a photoshoot with a different model wearing the shortest short shorts you can imagine. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures.

After his flamethrowing performance, the guy with the Cadillac lowered the car so hard it left skidmarks from the underbody. I'm not sure if that was intentional.;)

On more than one occasion a car fishtailed and started heading right at us spectators a few feet away. There were barriers but I kept an escape route in the back of my mind including putting a tree between me and the cars. Loads of fun though and I'm glad I stayed to the end for it.

The show as definitely centered around classic US cars. Only a few British cars, one Porsche, and I didn't notice anything Italian at all. Anyway, more photos...

I know the organizer of the UPS show. I bet if there was enough interest that he would allow a Ferrari contingent to park at the event. Most likely you would end up in the tuner/motorcycle/vendor lot. that's where the one Porsche and one Lotus were located. It would be interesting.

    cheers

Holy cow. I want to go to this. I would do the burnout competition, but it ended up being a $3000 burnout when the tranny went by bye
