Well, my wife and I are going to be purchasing a Loft, and well.. parking for 3 cars plus maybe a bike is going to be impossible. So i've been looking at what I can combine into a dailey driver and a fun machine.

Originally I was going to buy a 360, but now I'm thinking that keeping that car in a loft, not being able to use it just about every day.. is going to be a no go. I am also looking at the new M5, the New M6, and even the v8 Vantage..

    Now, my question is this..

could I pick up a Gallardo, and use it as a dailey driver? Or is this a no go?

Any help or information would be GREATLY appreciated.

EDIT: and I just now realized I somehow left the "o" out of Gallardo.

YES the answer is it can make a great daily driver. I don't own one but last Saturday I got a ride in one and was able to talk to the owner. He has only had it since February and has already put 9000 miles on it (minus original dealer miles), which is around 30 per day. He said he drives it nearly every day to places like the post office, grocery store, etc, he thinks of excuses to take it out for a spin. And geez louise the stock exhaust sounds so good and the interior is nice, you could never get tired of it. Good luck with whatever you end up doing but I really recommend the Gallardo as a daily driver!

From what I've read in forums before picking up my spyder, it sounds like you could technically use it as a daily driver and have it be perfectly reliable although e-gear may not be the best option if it's a stop and go daily driver. Whether you'd want to or not will probably depend a lot on just where you really need to take it, etc. I have a Mercedes G55 and a Chevy Pickup too, the Chevy being my daily driver, and the first time I took the Mercedes to the grocery store, bam, dent in the back passenger door. There is definitely a subset of people who will go out of their way to damage your high end car for the sole fact that they can't afford one and the more outrageous or exotic it is, the more likely you'll be targeted. With the G55, the vehicle is built like a tank with thick metal doors so Mercedes was able to fix the dent for about $200, I can't imagine what kind of damage would have resulted, or the cost to fix it, if it had been my Gallardo. So I love the car so far but I'm going to be very careful where I take the big orange target that it is. :)

I think this may be my car then :).

I just know that buying a ferrari, putting miles on it would kill me.. even though any car I buy, i'm going to drive it. That's what it's there for.

May I ask why you don't want to put miles on a Ferrari but why you would on a Lamborghini? Just curious. Another owner I know who has an F430 and a Diablo said he drives the F430 3x as much as the Diablo. But I think that's mainly because his Diablo's pretty irreplaceable (red 6.0, pretty rare) while you have to admit there are a lot of F430s out there.

I've just noticed the trend of ferraris not being a "reliable" as the lambos seem to be. Also, any sort of resale on a high milage ferrari is near impossible. The lamborghini for me would be something I'd hold onto for a while.

I've covered 20,000 miles in 11 months in my G egear (cluth is 50% worn) and never had any problems, so yes it can be used every day in any weather - I've even driven mine in the snow, which OK, I won't do in a hurry again...

Then again, there is a video circulating with a Gallardo with good snow tires that is doing amazingly well in snow.

I am planning on purchasing a Gallardo. I baby my Porsche, but I plan to drive the G every day that I don't need to carry large objects or passengers!

You're right about the miles thing but I really believe it applies to both Lambos and F cars.

Just as an FYI, my 360 Modena was bullet proof, and I had many spirited drives with other 360 owners and the same was true for them. I think the earlier model Fcars were much less reliable, but the new ones are a different story.

The 360 or the Gallardo could easily be a daily driver, but most people just don't have the means or the heart to do so :)

well, first off, i love my G. but consider a few things if you're thinking about making it a daily car:

    1) no trunk space. the tiny slot in front under the hood will just fit a couple of laptop bags. golf clubs have to sit in the passenger seat so if you're plannin to bring a friend, forget it.

    2) probably shy away from "sport suspension" which is a tighter around bumps and may be a bit uncomfortable.

    3) if you plan to get a bright color, plan on drawing a lot attention (unless you live in Orange County or South Florida). this can get old after a while.

    4) the car is fast. and easy to drive. which means that you may drive it fast every time you get in the car. which means you may need to be on the watch for cops all of the time (even with a radar detector since cops often just chase after cars without it). this can cause you to feel a bit exhausted during and after driving the car.

Amen on the cop thing and watching your speed.

I once had two CHP's follow me for about 20 minutes on the freeway; they were right next to me on both sides just smiling at me (while we cruised at 65 as other cars passed by at higher rates of speed) :)

I had three 360's, and this is my first Gallardo. I can't speak for the 430, never having driven one, but as far as the comfort factor goes my 06 G smokes the ride of the 360. It could easily be a daily driver, although mine isn't.
