Well, the title refers as to how I'd like to be over the next five days. Only one more sleep to go until the prologue. This thread is likely to turn into a general thinking aloud/rave on my view from the passengers seat of Goober's 360C. And now I've got the transfer cable back I can post a couple of pics.

My story so far. Last Monday week Goober reached the end of his black book, and a note of torn paper must have fallen out. On that paper was my phone number. I received a text requesting if I could be navigator for the Sunday of CA, my out loud response on reading it was "you're kidding!". I thought about it, then phoned back just to make sure the message was for me, detailed my scant navigation experience as basically nil (just a few club level events years ago). But all I had to do was read instructions. OK, I'm in. So the last couple of days have been spent doing a quick recce of the event mainly for my own benefit, as Goober would know the roads.

Yesterday was documentation and scrutineering day. Get given a bag full of stuff, among which was included a green shirt that appeared to be a remainder from Jim's Mowing, really useful, for checking the oil. Among the stuff was a fistful of fliers. Why they do this I don't know, the poor sponsors don't get any benefit as they just get filed in the bin. Why not include a bog roll printed with the sponsors' names? At least it would be useful, and likely get read in the seconds before use. Even Quilton know people read the inside of bog rolls by including a delightful message on the inside of the roll.

The car passed scrutineering with only a couple of points causing the involvement of the head scrutineer. Then for my sake as official blindspot looker outerer, I added a Ferrari approved convex mirror from Repco to the LH mirror.

So after my third time in the car, I am quite impressed as to how tractable the car is, trunding around the Hindley cruise strip and town with a minimum of fuss. Even the ride for a full purpose built competition car is good. The sound (as opposed to the noise :)) of the car is truly amazing!

Tomorrow, early start for crew briefing, then waiting for the prologue at 2pm. I think that is when reality and responsibility will finally kick in for me, and the fun starts!!

Pics: A happy 360C admirer leaving the scene at the Elder Park display, Waz356's cabrio in elegant repose, 360C in scrutineering and alternative use for the CF rear wing.....

That theory doesn't hold much water......... Pee Pee is normally close at hand and he certainly fits the bill- he is barely house trained as some may have noticed.

You need to let her out more. ;)

I hope someone is going to be taking videos and photos from the prologue because I don't think I can make it tomorrow.

What time does the parade start and when does the prologue start?

Not tired, remembered more from today. At documentation all crews were given a non removable wrist band to identify themselves, mine is quite obvious. I went shopping today, not my usual day, so you meet different people. The usual person in the supermarket asked if I was going to hospital, the usual one in the newsagent asked what it was.

Then the person in the F&V shop asked, I said it was my day release tag with a transmitter to identify my location. The colour of the band represents my level of danger, it happens to be a red band. She sort of went a funny colour.

At least the red band should co-ordinate nicely with my new Gordini blue romper suit!

Parade and prologue start at the same time for the competition cars, at around 12.30pm. Then the various classes continue on from then.

come to think of it you carry off the polite and mild-mannered yet deranged serial killer thing quite well. what could be more masochistic than a renault with no boot space?

Hmm, you wouldn't be the first person to say that. Then again I have been used in a bank robber identification exercise, the police have tried to pick me up as an escaped prisoner, and I was also fleetingly queried as a suspicious person in Dublin.

Ah, and the reason there is no boot space is that the second fuel tank is there, with the fuel filler neck placed about 50cm from the battery......
